Job Description

The Town of Estes Park, located in Estes Park, Colorado, is a vibrant community known for its scenic beauty and dynamic community services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its residents and visitors. The Town oversees a variety of municipal services including events and visitor services, which contribute significantly to the cultural and social fabric of the area. The Town operates several key public facilities such as fairgrounds, an Events Center, and other municipal infrastructure that residents and tourists alike enjoy throughout the year. As part of its commitment to excellence, the Town seeks dedicated professionals to support the maintenance and operation of these facilities ensuring safe, efficient, and enjoyable experiences for all users.

The position of Events Maintenance Worker I is a full-time role based at the Town Hall located at 170 MacGregor Avenue, Estes Park, CO. This role is integral to supporting the Town's fairgrounds, Events Center, and other infrastructure that hosts a wide range of community and special events. The salary for this position ranges from $47,151 to $66,012 annually, reflecting the important duties and skills required. This job offers an opportunity to engage in a mix of unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled labor tasks that contribute directly to the successful setup, operation, and breakdown of events, as well as ongoing maintenance and operational duties.

The role involves working closely with internal staff and external vendors to assist in the planning and execution of special events, ensuring that event staging and coordination run smoothly. The Events Maintenance Worker I is responsible for routine safety checks on equipment, minor vehicle and equipment maintenance, and operating a variety of heavy and light-duty machinery essential for maintenance and construction tasks. Tasks further include performing physical labor activities using hand and power tools, janitorial duties, traffic control for events, and data entry related to maintenance logs and other information.

Because this position demands a hands-on approach to handling physical work in various conditions, including exposure to outdoor elements, the successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to work safely and efficiently under these conditions. This includes performing snow removal, carpentry, painting, basic plumbing, and electrical wiring tasks. Safety knowledge is emphasized, especially regarding the use of safety equipment and confined space entry. The position requires availability to respond to emergency situations and to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Applicants for this position are encouraged to apply promptly as the vacancy may close without notice after the first review date of May 18th, 2026. The Town provides comprehensive benefits including retirement plans, health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave including sick and vacation, floating holidays, and volunteer leave. Additionally, unique benefits such as a Homeownership Program and dependent care assistance through a Flexible Spending Account make this an attractive opportunity for those looking to establish or continue a career in municipal event maintenance and operations.

This position reports to the Events Operations Supervisor and offers a rewarding career path within the Town's Events and Visitor Services Department. If you possess strong physical endurance, a willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and a commitment to supporting the community’s special events and facilities, this role offers a valuable chance to apply your skills and grow professionally within the Town government structure.
