Job Description
The Michaels Companies Inc. is the leading destination for creativity and celebration in North America, with more than 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, as well as an extensive online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has become synonymous with creativity, offering a wide range of products, tools, and ideas to inspire creators of all ages and skill levels. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer known for custom and specialty framing merchandise, enhancing Michaels' offerings and solidifying its position as the ultimate destination for arts and crafts enthusiasts. Michaels' mission is to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration by providing quality products, engaging experiences, and exceptional service to its customers and community.
This role based in Fort Collins, Colorado, centers around Event Coordination within a Michaels store, specifically focusing on planning, coordinating, and facilitating events such as children's birthday parties and craft classes. The position is designed to create a stress-free, fun, and engaging environment for guests of all ages, from young children to seniors. The Event Coordinator is responsible for orchestrating multiple events simultaneously, ensuring all elements—from craft project instruction to party add-ons like goody bags and balloons—meet company standards and client expectations. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to engage clients meaningfully and ensure their satisfaction.
Additionally, the role includes a strong customer service component, where the employee assists customers in shopping, locating products, and providing solutions while delivering a fast and friendly checkout experience. The Event Coordinator supports operational tasks such as truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to uphold the Michaels brand promises. The role also demands attention to safety and cleanliness standards before, during, and after events.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a creative and dynamic retail environment that values enthusiasm, strong communication, and organizational skills. The total base pay for this role ranges from $15.16 to $17.70 per hour, and it may qualify for overtime compensation in accordance with state and local laws. The working environment involves standing for extended periods, moving across the store, handling physical tasks such as lifting heavy boxes, and working in climate-controlled public areas with some exposure to stock rooms that may not be climate controlled. The schedule includes evening, weekend, and early morning hours to accommodate store and event demands.
Michaels is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, striving to be an equal opportunity employer that fosters an environment where all team members and customers can create and innovate together. The company is also dedicated to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to ensure full participation in the job application, interview process, and employment if needed. Team members at Michaels enjoy a variety of benefits, including competitive pay, employee discounts, medical, dental, and vision coverage, telemedicine services, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans with employer matching, tuition assistance, and more, depending on eligibility.
