Job Description
ESPN Media is a global leader in sports broadcasting and entertainment, dedicated to bringing fans the most comprehensive and engaging sports content available. Based in Tampa, Florida, this branch of ESPN focuses on the orchestration and delivery of premier collegiate sporting events, including the renowned Gasparilla Bowl, the Clearwater Softball Invitational, and the ESPN Events Basketball Invitational. As a part-time team member here, you will join a dynamic environment where sports passion meets professional excellence, contributing to the successful execution and operational management of these major events.
This part-time role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event operations, sponsorship management, budgeting, and client communications within the sports entertainment industry. You will collaborate closely with the event manager and other team members to ensure seamless event planning and delivery. This highly organized and detail-oriented position is essential to supporting key operational activities such as event setup, credentialing, vendor relations, and volunteer oversight. The role also incorporates the management of event websites, storage logistics, and apparel distribution, demanding flexibility and adaptability as organizational needs evolve.
In addition to operational duties, the position requires proactive sponsorship support, including researching potential leads, customizing sponsor presentations, managing contracting processes, invoicing, and tracking deliverables. Maintaining clear and consistent communication with sponsors is critical to fostering strong partnerships and ensuring contract fulfillment. The position also involves budget management responsibilities, such as inputting and reconciling expenses and assisting leadership with reporting.
Administrative assistance is another core aspect of the job, with tasks ranging from scheduling and document organization to meeting preparation and on-site event support. This multifaceted role offers exposure to the inner workings of collegiate event production and a valuable chance to build a professional network across sports organizations, local businesses, university administration, and ESPN. The hiring range for this role is between $27.71 and $33.15 per hour for a 29-hour workweek, with the schedule flexible to meet business demands and events requiring extended hours.
Candidates should be prepared for specific event dates, including basketball event week in November, bowl week in December, and the softball invitational week in February, confirming the role's critical presence during key operational periods. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines is essential, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Dropbox, and SharePoint. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are also required, reflecting the on-the-ground nature of event coordination. Overall, this role is ideal for individuals seeking to develop and advance their careers within sports event management and operations, combining administrative talents with a passion for sports and events.
