With a rich history of supporting local businesses, community partners, and economic development initiatives, the Chamber serves as a vital resource for businesses of all sizes. Members benefit from a collaborative network, resources for growth, advocacy, educational programs, and numerous opportunities for engagement designed to promote success and connectivity within the business community. The Chamber hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including networking luncheons, ribbon cuttings, grand openings, and signature gatherings aimed at enhancing business relationships and community involvement.
The Peoria Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking an enthusiastic Events Coordinator Intern to join their team. This unpaid internship position offers approximately 10 hours per week and provides an immediate opening at the Chamber's office in Peoria, Arizona. The role is ideal for students or emerging professionals who are looking to gain hands-on experience in event planning, marketing, public relations, communications, or business development within a nonprofit setting.
As an Events Coordinator Intern, you will play a key role in assisting the Chamber with planning, promoting, and executing a diverse range of events that support member engagement and business development efforts. Your responsibilities will include coordinating event logistics, managing registrations, supporting vendor and sponsor relationships, and helping with event-day operations. This internship will not only enhance your organizational and communication skills but will also provide real-world exposure to nonprofit operations, marketing strategies, social media management, and community outreach.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Chamber’s President & CEO and staff, gaining valuable mentorship and insight into the inner workings of a successful chamber of commerce. In addition to event coordination, you will be involved in member and community engagement activities, helping to cultivate positive relationships with business professionals and community leaders. The position also offers exposure to marketing and communications tasks, such as creating social media content, assisting with email marketing campaigns, and supporting website updates.
This internship is structured to provide a dynamic learning environment where you can develop essential skills like multitasking, problem-solving, and customer service. You will be empowered to take initiative and work independently while contributing meaningfully to the Chamber’s mission of strengthening the local business ecosystem. The role requires a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Canva, social media platforms, and event management software is preferred but not mandatory, making it a valuable stepping stone for those eager to build a career in event management or nonprofit administration.
