Job Description

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library, commonly known as Heights Libraries, is a vital community hub serving the educational, cultural, and recreational needs of the residents of Cleveland Heights and University Heights. This public library system is dedicated to fostering lifelong learning, community engagement, and access to a diverse range of resources and programs. Through its various branches and initiatives, Heights Libraries facilitates opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection among community members of all ages. The library extends beyond traditional book lending to include digital resources, educational workshops, and community-centered events, making it an integral part of the area's social fabric.

The Heights Libraries currently seeks a highly organized and community-focused Events Coordinator to support the activation and programming of Coventry PEACE Park and additional library green spaces. This part-time position is designed for an individual passionate about community engagement and outdoor event planning. Working closely with the Strategic Projects Manager, the Events Coordinator will play a crucial role in transforming Coventry PEACE Park into a lively, inclusive, and welcoming extension of the library. This role is not only about event logistics but also about fostering meaningful connections within the community through intentional programming and stewardship of public spaces.

The Events Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and implement a variety of engaging outdoor events such as live performances, educational programs, and community gatherings that promote cultural awareness and inclusivity. The position requires hands-on support during events including setup, facilitation, and teardown, ensuring each event runs smoothly and safely. Additionally, the coordinator will build and maintain relationships with community partners including artists, local businesses, and organizations to enhance the offerings and reach of the events. Volunteer coordination and engagement are also important components of this role, providing opportunities for community members to contribute to the park’s vibrancy.

In addition to event management, the coordinator is tasked with helping maintain a safe and organized park environment, communicating any maintenance needs promptly. Gathering feedback and participation data is essential for assessing program success and identifying areas for future improvement. The role also includes outreach efforts to guarantee diverse and inclusive community participation, as well as contributing to strategic off-season planning and programming for the upcoming calendar year. Collaboration with library staff to integrate cross-functional programs and managing practical aspects of park use such as pavilion reservations and bulletin board communications round out the responsibilities.

This position offers an approximate commitment of 20 hours per week on a part-time basis, providing flexibility for evenings and weekends to accommodate event schedules. Based primarily at the Lee Road Branch with frequent work at Coventry PEACE Park, the Events Coordinator will have the chance to significantly impact community engagement and support the library’s mission to enrich the public experience through innovative outdoor programming.
