Job Description
Utah Valley University (UVU) is a dynamic and comprehensive public university located in Orem, Utah. Established with a commitment to offering accessible, high-quality education, UVU serves a diverse student population with a wide range of academic programs and community engagement initiatives. The university is known for its strong emphasis on career readiness, providing students with the skills and experiences needed to thrive in the workforce. UVU's Career and Internship Center plays a pivotal role in this mission by facilitating connections between students and employers, organizing career fairs, and supporting internship opportunities that prepare graduates for successful employment paths.
The Career and Internship Center at UVU is actively seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Events Coordinator. This full-time, nonexempt salaried position is based at the Main Campus in Orem and is an integral part of the VP Academic Affairs division. The Events Coordinator will be primarily responsible for the planning, scheduling, and execution of a variety of career-related events including career and internship fairs, job fairs, networking events for students, employer partner events, and other campus recruiting activities. This role requires someone who thrives behind the scenes, ensuring that every logistical detail is managed efficiently to create seamless and impactful events that contribute to student success in the job market.
The Events Coordinator will serve as the primary contact for events, working closely with campus departments and external partners to schedule physical spaces, coordinate event logistics, and manage all aspects of event execution. This position reports directly to the Employer Relations Manager and collaborates with the employer relations team to monitor employer participation and registrations. A significant part of the role includes managing event materials inventory, coordinating staff coverage, handling event purchases within budget, and solving any challenges that arise during events in real time.
Additionally, the coordinator will engage with the marketing team to promote events effectively to students and faculty, participating in the CIC events and marketing committee to support advertising strategies. Beyond event management, the coordinator is responsible for maintaining comprehensive records and reports to evaluate the success and budgetary aspects of events, ensuring continual improvement in program delivery.
This position offers an annual salary ranging from $43,472 to $51,143 and includes a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee wellness, financial security, and work-life balance. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, exceptional communication abilities, and the flexibility to occasionally work outside standard campus hours. Prior experience in event planning is required, with a preference for candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Hospitality Management, Event Coordination, or a related field. UVU is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing an equitable work environment free from discrimination based on race, gender, age, or other protected characteristics.
