Job Description

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Public Library, commonly known as Heights Libraries, is a vital community resource dedicated to enriching the lives of residents through access to information, educational programming, and cultural engagement. Serving the communities of Cleveland Heights and University Heights, this public library system continuously strives to create welcoming spaces that foster learning, creativity, and connection among diverse populations. Heights Libraries are committed to providing innovative services and programs that respond to the evolving needs of the community, establishing themselves not just as a place to borrow books but as a dynamic hub for community life and civic engagement.

The Heights Libraries are currently seeking a highly organized and community-focused Events Coordinator to help activate and program Coventry PEACE Park and other outdoor library green spaces. This part-time position plays a critical role in expanding the library’s impact beyond its conventional walls by developing vibrant and inclusive outdoor activities that encourage community participation. Working closely with the Strategic Projects Manager, the Events Coordinator will assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of a variety of events such as live performances, educational programs, and community gatherings. This role is instrumental in positioning Coventry PEACE Park as an inviting and well-managed extension of the library’s services, contributing meaningfully to community stewardship and local partnerships.

The Events Coordinator will be responsible for on-site event support including setup, facilitation, and breakdown, ensuring that all events run smoothly and safely. Additionally, this role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with community partners such as artists, local businesses, and various organizations to foster collaboration and broaden engagement. Volunteer coordination and outreach are also key components of the position, aimed at sustaining community involvement and ensuring diverse participation. The coordinator will gather feedback and participation data to inform future programming and improvements, making continuous enhancements that reflect the community’s needs and interests.

This position also involves managing the park's bulletin board, pavilion reservation requests, and supporting off-season planning efforts to develop strategic initiatives for upcoming events. The part-time nature of the job, approximately 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling for evenings and weekends, allows for a balance between structured responsibility and adaptability for event-specific needs. Primarily based at the Lee Road Branch, the coordinator will regularly work at Coventry PEACE Park to provide hands-on program support.

Overall, this role offers an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about community engagement, event coordination, and public programming within a respected public institution. The Events Coordinator will contribute to fostering a vibrant community space that supports social connectivity, creativity, and lifelong learning, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for Cleveland Heights and University Heights residents.
