Job Description
Make-A-Wish Idaho is a dedicated charitable organization committed to fulfilling the wishes of children with critical illnesses throughout the state. Since its establishment in 1986, the chapter has granted more than 2,200 wishes, profoundly impacting the lives of children and families facing difficult health challenges. As an independent chapter of Make-A-Wish America, the Idaho branch has maintained a grassroots approach in its operations, emphasizing personal connections, community involvement, and meaningful engagement to advance its mission. The organization values key principles such as integrity, respect, open communication, loyalty, and gratitude, which guide daily activities and long-term strategies. At the core of Make-A-Wish Idaho’s work is the transformative power of a wish to improve the quality of life of critically ill children and their families through memorable and magical experiences.
The Special Events Coordinator role is pivotal within Make-A-Wish Idaho’s development team, focusing on planning, managing, and executing various special events that serve to raise funds and build community awareness. The person in this role will be responsible for coordinating internal chapter events as well as maximizing the impact of external events to promote the organization’s visibility and fundraising goals statewide. Events such as Serving Up Wishes, Polar Bear Challenge, Walk for Wishes (Idaho Falls and Twin Falls), Kids for Wish Kids, and Wishes in Flight form a core part of the fundraising initiatives overseen by the coordinator. Additionally, this position supports national corporate partnerships and ensures cohesive event execution that reflects the organization’s mission.
This full-time, exempt position offers a competitive salary ranging from $42,000 to $45,000 annually, aligned with experience. It is a hybrid role requiring a regular onsite presence, along with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as necessary. The Special Events Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Director of Development to implement annual development goals and strategic plans that support Make-A-Wish Idaho’s long-term sustainability.
The role demands exceptional communication, organizational, project management, and leadership skills. The coordinator will provide direction and coaching to volunteer fundraising chairs and event committees, ensuring seamless scheduling, planning, budgeting, and production of events. Accurate record-keeping and donor relationship management are also key responsibilities, leveraging donor information systems to maintain and cultivate strong connections with current donors and prospective volunteers.
With a strong commitment to the Make-A-Wish mission, the Special Events Coordinator acts as a vital ambassador for the organization within the community, creating opportunities for donor appreciation, stewardship, and elevated community awareness. This role is suitable for individuals passionate about nonprofit work, able to thrive in a dynamic team environment, and motivated by meaningful impact through philanthropy and event management.
