The role of Event Coordinator at Michaels in Ral-Garner, NC is designed to enhance the customer experience through planning, coordination, and facilitation of in-store events, including children's birthday parties and various craft classes. This position requires a dynamic individual who can create fun, engaging, and memorable experiences for guests while ensuring smooth operational activities within the store. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, engaging with a diverse client base ranging from children to seniors, and leading craft project demonstrations and activities such as face painting. This role also involves organizing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons, handling administrative duties such as emailing and phone communication, and adjusting plans based on client feedback to ensure client satisfaction.

In addition to event management, this position plays a key role in supporting the overall customer experience by assisting shoppers in finding products, providing exceptional service at checkout, promoting the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and supporting Omni-channel processes like Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The coordinator will also assist with daily operational tasks such as truck unloading, stocking, merchandise recovery, planogram setups, and maintaining store cleanliness. This position demands the ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods, as well as upholding company safety and compliance standards.

Job Requirements

Must have experience working with children
Retail or customer service experience required
Ability to remain standing for long periods
Ability to move throughout the store

Job Duties

Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities like face painting
Facilitate and implement party add-ons according to company standards
Communicate events with clients and store team members
Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork
Adjust plans and create backup plans based on client feedback
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
Uphold cleanliness and safety standards, set up and clean before and after events
Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
Promote Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
Educate customers on VOC survey
Assist with Omni channel processes including BOPIS and Ship From Store
Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
Maintain merchandise recovery and store appearance
Perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties
Support shrink and safety programs
Adhere to SOPs and company policies
Interact respectfully with others and promote company values
Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production
Participate in daily store cleanliness activities such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restrooms cleaning
Perform other duties as assigned
