Job Description

The University of Michigan Alumni Association (AAUM) is a vibrant organization dedicated to fostering connections between alumni and the university community. The Alumni Association plays an integral role in enhancing the university experience for students, alumni, and the greater community by coordinating events, programs, and services that celebrate the rich traditions of the university and encourage lifelong affiliation. Located in Ann Arbor, MI, the Alumni Center serves as a hub for many such activities, providing a welcoming space where members and guests can gather and engage.

The role of Events Assistant (Office Assistant - Temporary) is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of AAUM's key initiatives: the Eat & Greet orientation breakfast, designed to welcome new students each summer. This temporary, full-time position requires an individual who is organized, team-oriented, and capable of leading the on-site efforts during this exciting event. The Events Assistant will serve as the on-site lead from early morning until noon across several weeks, including select Saturdays, to ensure successful execution of the event. Responsibilities include opening the Alumni Center, managing student workers and vendors, overseeing setup and breakdown, and maintaining event inventory. This role offers hands-on experience in event management within a prestigious educational institution and requires a commitment to delivering an excellent experience to new students and attendees.

The work mode is onsite, located at the Ann Arbor campus. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $22.00, reflecting the temporary nature of the employment through early August. This role is perfect for candidates who thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy collaborating across teams in diverse settings. The University of Michigan values inclusion and diversity, making this position not only a professional opportunity but also a chance to work in a positive, respectful environment committed to equitable access and opportunity for all. If you are passionate about event coordination, working with people, and supporting a welcoming community environment, the Events Assistant position at the University of Michigan Alumni Association is an excellent fit.
