Job Description

Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is a well-established educational institution dedicated to providing comprehensive learning opportunities and fostering a supportive environment for students and staff. Located in Wilmington at the Downtown Campus, CFCC operates under the President's Office division and is known for its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community engagement. The college emphasizes equal employment and educational opportunities and is compliant with various federal laws such as Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Civil Rights Act, ensuring a respectful and equitable workplace.

The Events and Support Technician role at CFCC is a full-time staff position based in Wilmington, North Carolina, offering a monthly salary of $3,275. This position plays a vital role in supporting campus events through the setup, breakdown, transportation, and maintenance of event-related equipment and furnishings. The technician is integral in ensuring that all college event spaces are safe, welcoming, and well-prepared for meetings, programs, and special functions.

The role demands a strong commitment to maintaining a clean and organized campus atmosphere, which supports the broader operational needs of the college. Working closely under the guidance of the Custodial Manager, the technician will not exercise supervision over others but will collaborate with colleagues, faculty, supervisors, and students to uphold the college's standards. Due to the nature of event support, the position may require flexibility to work beyond regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.

Critical responsibilities include the physical setup of tables, chairs, mobile stages, and other event equipment, as well as minor assembly tasks related to furniture and fixtures. The technician also manages signage for events, transports various items across campus, and adjusts room configurations as requested to meet event requirements. Beyond event support, the role includes facility maintenance duties such as snow removal and general campus upkeep, contributing to a safe and functional environment.

In addition, the technician must possess basic technical skills, including proficiency with mobile devices, email communication, and applications like Google Sheets to support departmental operations efficiently. The job requires the ability to lift, push, pull, or relocate objects weighing up to 50 pounds, demonstrating the physical demands of the position.

The candidate must maintain a positive attitude and effective communication skills, with the capability to read and follow written and oral instructions. A high school diploma or equivalent education is required to apply, with unofficial transcripts and any relevant training certifications necessary during the application process. Official transcripts must be submitted before the hire date.

CFCC offers state of North Carolina benefits, including comprehensive health plans and wellness programs, reinforcing its dedication to employee well-being. The college promotes a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous learning, making it an excellent workplace for individuals committed to contributing to education and community support.
