Job Description
The Salvation Army is an international movement and an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Founded on the principles of the Bible, this organization operates under a mission motivated by the love of God. The core objective of The Salvation Army is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs with compassion and without discrimination. Recognized globally for its social services and outreach programs, The Salvation Army plays a vital role in communities by providing support and assistance to individuals and families in need. It comes with a rich heritage of delivering aid through various programs ranging from disaster relief to rehabilitation and community events aimed at fostering support and connection among community members.
The Salvation Army Omaha North Corps is seeking a dedicated Events & Rentals Specialist to join their team on a part-time basis. This role is structured with working hours from Monday to Friday between 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., offering an annual salary range starting at $28,000 to $32,000. The primary responsibility of the Events & Rentals Specialist is to provide both direct client support and administrative assistance to ensure successful execution of internal and external events hosted by the Omaha North Corps. As the primary liaison for clients, this position demands a high level of organizational skill and communication to ensure events meet contractual agreements, maintain exceptional service standards, and facilitate clear communication between clients and internal teams.
In this position, the specialist will be accountable for the planning, coordination, and execution of seasonal and community-focused events such as the Christmas distribution, Toyland registration, and other significant large-scale program events. The role also involves collaborating closely with leadership to provide logistical support for diverse events including receptions, Tree of Lights, annual meetings, and multiple community drives like Backpack Drive and Adopt-a-Family. Beyond event execution, the role demands handling rental inquiries, managing event orders to align with client requirements, and ensuring smooth on-site event facilitation that actively responds to client and guest needs.
Events managed will vary in scale and complexity, requiring the specialist to creatively address client concerns, support audiovisual setups, and recommend procedural improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience. This role emphasizes a service-oriented approach, welcoming guests warmly, maintaining event spaces, and ensuring compliance with established policies. The specialist will also assist with kitchen maintenance and upkeep during events. Although primarily a day job, duties may extend to evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on event schedules. Driving is an essential function of this position, and all other assigned duties contribute to the successful carrying out of the organization’s community-focused mission.
Overall, the Events & Rentals Specialist will play an essential role in amplifying The Salvation Army's mission through well-organized event planning and client service. The part-time role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in event management, communications, or marketing, who wish to make a positive community impact while working in a faith-driven, service-oriented environment. Candidates are expected to bring a dedication to teamwork, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in dynamic settings. The organization strongly supports inclusivity and encourages applications from diverse backgrounds including veterans, people with disabilities, and those impacted by the justice system, reflecting its commitment to equitable employment opportunities.
