Job Description
The San Diego Regional East County Chamber of Commerce is a community-focused organization dedicated to promoting business growth and networking within the East County region of San Diego. As a prominent local business chamber, its mission is to provide valuable resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities to its members to foster a collaborative and prosperous business community. The Chamber plays a significant role in connecting local businesses, supporting economic development, and enhancing the quality of life in the region through various programs and events designed for engagement, education, and business promotion.
The Events Coordinator position at the San Diego Regional East County Chamber of Commerce offers an exciting opportunity for a highly organized and proactive individual to manage and execute all Chamber-related events and programs. Reporting directly to the Chamber President/CEO, this role is central to the organization's mission of member engagement and community outreach. The Events Coordinator acts as the primary contact for Chamber events and is responsible for managing all aspects of event planning, coordination, and execution from inception to completion.
This role requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders including the Chamber President/CEO, Chamber members, business owners, sales and marketing teams, exhibitors, sponsors, donors, venue contacts, and volunteers. The incumbent is tasked with ensuring each event meets strategic objectives such as maximizing visibility for the Chamber, retaining and engaging current members, and attracting new members by delivering well-organized, fun, and interactive networking events that demonstrate the value of Chamber membership.
Daily and monthly duties include managing communication with the President and CEO, coordinating with staff and vendors, and overseeing a diverse range of signature events including First Friday Breakfast, Dine & Dialogue, WILL, Politics in Paradise, Leadership, East County Honors, Golf Tournament, Mixers, Ribbon Cutting ceremonies, among others. This role involves meticulous event setup, teardown, volunteer coordination, and post-event follow-up, all while maintaining budget oversight and executing contract negotiations with the support and consultation of the Chamber leadership.
The Events Coordinator also leads efforts to standardize event procedures and train staff to ensure consistency and excellence in event delivery. Collaboration with committees is essential to delegate tasks appropriately, manage timelines for sponsorships, donations, and RSVPs, and track event performance for continuous improvement. In addition to event management, the Coordinator contributes to membership engagement and growth, assists with administrative tasks, marketing, social media outreach, and membership support within the Chamber office.
Ideal candidates will have prior experience in events management and production, strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders, and the ability to operate independently and under deadlines. They should be adaptable, solution-oriented, and committed to fostering community relationships. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $16.00 and is an excellent pathway for professionals passionate about community engagement and event coordination in a dynamic regional economic development environment.
