Job Description

The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc. (UTFI) is a distinguished not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting students and faculty across the University of Tennessee System through private contributions. As the preferred channel for philanthropic giving benefiting the UT campuses, UTFI is committed to enhancing educational opportunities and advancing the university's mission. UTFI aims to be recognized as one of the top-performing advancement organizations in higher education, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering excellence in academic programs and community engagement throughout the Tennessee region.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), part of the UT System, is a nationally recognized model for metropolitan universities. UTC offers a vibrant, experiential learning environment with strong partnerships within the region. The institution serves over 11,350 students across four colleges, providing more than 55 bachelor's degree programs, 50 master’s programs, and five doctoral degrees. Known for preparing students for success in a global society, UTC upholds quality education at an affordable cost with a dedicated faculty focused on scholarly teaching and research.

Positioned within this dynamic framework, the UTFI is recruiting for an Events and Operations Coordinator at UTC Athletics. Reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director of Advancement, this full-time position plays a critical role in supporting donor engagement and operational excellence within the Mocs Club and UTC Athletics. The role centers on designing, coordinating, and facilitating signature donor events that enhance relationships between donors and the athletic department, while also overseeing communications and operational activities crucial to the Advancement team’s success.

The Events and Operations Coordinator will be instrumental in creating comprehensive strategies for donor hospitality events tied to UTC Athletics, ensuring seamless event execution and optimal donor experiences. Responsibilities include managing vendor relationships, soliciting in-kind donations, and evaluating vendor performance to enhance event quality and cost-efficiency. This role also involves using data analytics to assess event participation and shape future event strategies, alongside planning and executing high-profile signature events.

In addition to event management, the coordinator will lead stewardship and communication strategies, crafting targeted messaging and publications that highlight donor impacts, student-athlete stories, and fundraising progress. Collaborating closely with the Senior Director of Marketing, the coordinator will analyze engagement metrics and recommend improvements that align with fundraising goals. Furthermore, the role involves stewardship programming development with coaches and student-athletes, aiming to foster innovative approaches to donor appreciation and support.

Operationally, the Events and Operations Coordinator will serve as an advisory resource to senior leadership, including the Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, on donor experience and engagement strategies. The coordinator will provide on-site expertise at advancement-related events, driving continuous improvement in event planning and donor relations.

Candidates for this role must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least one year of event management experience, preferably within an athletics-related environment. Effective communication skills and the ability to manage diverse event and operational responsibilities are essential. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required due to travel obligations associated with the position. Preferred qualifications include experience in intercollegiate athletics fundraising. The targeted start date is August 2026.

UTFI offers a competitive benefits package including generous paid leave with vacation, sick days, holidays, and administrative closings, flexible hybrid work arrangements, education benefits for employees and dependents, retirement and deferred compensation plans, comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance plans, and employee discounts on various services and goods. The foundation fosters an inclusive and equitable workplace consistent with federal and state non-discrimination laws.

This position is a unique opportunity for an organized, proactive individual passionate about event management, donor stewardship, and athletics advancement to contribute meaningfully to the University of Tennessee Chattanooga's athletic fundraising and advancement initiatives. Candidates who value collaboration, community engagement, and innovative donor relations are encouraged to apply prior to the May 11 priority application deadline through the UTFI DASH application system.
