Job Description
Apartment Life is a community-driven organization dedicated to enhancing the living experience within apartment communities through thoughtful programming and resident engagement. Focused on creating supportive, vibrant neighborhoods, Apartment Life partners with corporate, government, and nonprofit entities to address the unique needs of residents. Situated near Germantown in Memphis, TN, Apartment Life champions the social, educational, and wellness needs of its residents by fostering activities that promote social interaction, enrichment, and stability within the community.
The Events and Ministry Coordinator, also known internally as the Coordinator of Resident Services, plays a critical role in the execution of Apartment Life's service plan. This part-time position requires a commitment of 12 hours per week, emphasizing a strong presence within the community and responsiveness to resident needs. Unlike traditional paid roles, this coordinator position offers compensation through onsite living arrangements at the community with discounted rent rather than monetary payment, fostering a deeper connection with residents by allowing coordinators to live where they serve.
The position is designed for a team of two people who will collaborate to serve one community for a two-year term. Eligible teams include married couples, adult family members, or two roommates of the same gender. Flexibility is key as responsibilities may need to be met during business hours, evenings, or weekends. The coordinator team is expected to plan and host monthly events that cater to a diverse population by promoting wellness, health, social engagement, and enrichment. This involves creating a well-organized monthly schedule featuring various community activities, workshops, and classes aimed at adults and families.
This role is a blend of program development, event planning, community outreach, and resident support. Coordinators work closely with supervisors to align programming with community needs, provide resources to residents, and facilitate meaningful connections. They also coordinate with onsite staff and external partners to ensure smooth delivery of activities. The role demands strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple initiatives, and a heart for serving at-risk populations. The coordinator is also responsible for maintaining detailed weekly and monthly reports to track program effectiveness and community impact.
Given the unique nature of compensation through discounted rent and the requirement to live onsite, those applying must demonstrate a strong commitment to community service, resilience, and flexibility. The role is ideal for individuals passionate about social impact, community building, and creating environments where residents feel supported and valued. By investing in the people and programming, Apartment Life aims to transform apartment living into a vibrant, thriving community experience.
