Job Description
Apartment Life is a mission-driven organization focused on creating vibrant, connected communities within apartment complexes by providing excellent experiences for residents and staff. As a faith-based ministry, it emphasizes combining business excellence with a heart for serving neighbors through radical hospitality and genuine care. Apartment Life's goal is to foster meaningful relationships and impact the lives of residents through social events, personal communication, and community engagement. Coordinators working with Apartment Life play a crucial role in the development and enrichment of apartment communities by planning social activities that facilitate connection and care among residents.
The Events and Ministry Coordinator role is a unique, non-paid position designed for individuals who are passionate about community building and ministry. Coordinators are responsible for curating and delivering an exceptional Apartment Life experience by organizing at least two events each month for residents. These events are designed not only for fun and socialization but also to connect residents with each other and local resources, fostering a supportive and welcoming environment. The role involves extensive interpersonal interaction, marketing, planning, and leadership skills as coordinators collaborate with staff, residents, vendors, and volunteers to ensure each event's success. They also maintain the online reputation of the community by encouraging residents to share positive experiences through digital platforms.
Coordinators are expected to communicate effectively by preparing marketing materials such as monthly calendars, event flyers, and social media content. They manage event budgets, compile monthly activity summaries, and regularly meet with staff and program directors for planning and development. A key aspect of the role includes providing personalized care by visiting new residents shortly after they move in and residents nearing the end of their lease to maintain connections within the community. This position demands a high level of responsibility, relational skills, and alignment with the mission of Apartment Life, making it ideal for mission-minded individuals who enjoy engaging with others and planning community-focused events.
Since this is not a paid position, candidates should be motivated by a passion for ministry and community service rather than financial compensation. The role requires a commitment of weekly hours, primarily during evenings and weekends when residents are most likely to be at home. Physical capabilities such as the ability to use stairs, bend, sit, stand, stoop, and carry items up to 25 pounds are necessary to fulfill the duties effectively. Coordinators should have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and insurance to facilitate errands such as shopping and vendor coordination.
This position offers volunteers an opportunity to develop skills in event planning, community outreach, and ministry while making a tangible difference in the lives of apartment residents. Ideal candidates are highly relational, organized, and passionate about blending business practices with ministry to serve others. Previous experience in event planning, budgeting, social media use, and maintaining a network of community partners or volunteers is preferred but not mandatory. Overall, this role provides a meaningful way to engage with the community and contribute to a faith-based mission focused on neighborly love and hospitality.
