Job Description

Apartment Life is a community-focused organization dedicated to fostering a vibrant and supportive living environment for residents in multifamily apartment communities. Located in south Tacoma, WA near Larchmont, Apartment Life is committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents by offering enriching social programming, wellness initiatives, and resources that promote stability and engagement within the community. Operating at the intersection of nonprofit collaboration and neighborhood development, Apartment Life partners with various corporate, government, and nonprofit entities to curate programs that address the unique needs of each community it serves.

The role of Events and Ministry Coordinator, internally known as Coordinator of Resident Services, is integral to executing the service plan of Apartment Life. This part-time position requires a dedicated professional to work 24 hours per week within one community setting. The coordinator plays a pivotal role in planning and hosting a variety of resident events, workshops, and classes tailored for adults and families. They are also responsible for resident outreach activities designed to foster social engagement, wellness, health enrichment, and overall community stability. This role requires interaction with residents to offer support, connect them with essential resources, and share valuable information about assistance programs such as rental and food aid.

In collaboration with their Apartment Life supervisor, the coordinator prepares a comprehensive monthly schedule that organizes all programming and community activities. A key responsibility includes hosting three Kid's Clubs during the workweek between 3:30 pm and 5 pm, providing a safe and engaging space for children. The coordinator also liaises regularly with onsite staff, attends weekly supervision meetings to review program goals, and submits detailed monthly activity reports that measure community impact. This role demands excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside the ability to compose marketing materials and maintain basic computer proficiency.

Given that residents are usually available during evenings and weekends, the coordinator must demonstrate flexibility to lead after-hours or weekend activities as needed. Candidates should possess a valid driver’s license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation to handle duties that may include shopping for events and vendor coordination. Physical fitness is necessary as the job involves activities such as climbing stairs, bending, sitting, standing, stooping, and carrying up to 25 pounds.

Apartment Life values diversity and inclusivity; therefore, bilingual Spanish proficiency is welcomed though not mandatory. Experience working with at-risk populations, managing budgets for event planning, and leveraging social media for community engagement are considered strong assets. The ideal coordinator will also have access to a network of volunteers, vendors, or community partners to support programming efforts.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage range of $21 to $23 and provides a meaningful opportunity to impact the lives of apartment community residents positively. Applicants are encouraged to review the full job description carefully before applying.
