Job Description
Apartment Life is a dynamic organization dedicated to fostering vibrant and supportive apartment communities. Specializing in resident services, Apartment Life focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents through carefully planned events, workshops, and programs tailored to meet the unique needs of each community. Known for its commitment to social engagement and resident wellness, the organization partners with corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors to provide holistic support and enrichment activities. Apartment Life emphasizes a collaborative approach, working closely with onsite staff and local businesses to ensure each initiative fosters connection, stability, and enrichment for residents.
The Events and Ministry Coordinator, also internally referred to as the Coordinator of Resident Services, plays a crucial role in executing Apartment Life's service plan for a specific community in Pittsburgh, PA, near South Side Slopes. This part-time position entails dedicating approximately 20 hours per week to develop and implement a monthly schedule of resident-centered programming. Focused on serving a community predominantly composed of over 55 senior adults, this role requires a compassionate heart and dedication to creating impactful experiences that promote social engagement, wellness, health, and enrichment within the community. The hourly wage ranges between $22 and $25, commensurate with experience.
The Coordinator will be responsible for organizing diverse activities including resident events, educational workshops for adults and families, resource sharing sessions, and welcoming new residents. Responsibilities also extend to maintaining and updating a resource list for rent, food assistance, and other essential services, ensuring residents have timely access to support. Interaction with residents will be personalized; meetings with those with specific needs will be used to connect them effectively with local resources. Collaborating with community businesses to expand the variety and quality of programs offered is an integral part of the role.
Key to this position is effective communication with onsite staff and the Apartment Life supervisor, facilitating smooth execution and regular evaluation of programs through weekly meetings and monthly reporting on activities and impacts. This role is primarily scheduled during regular business hours Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required to align with resident availability.
In essence, the Events and Ministry Coordinator is a vital ambassador for Apartment Life’s mission to build connected communities by planning and leading initiatives that support and empower residents, particularly seniors. This role not only requires programmatic and organizational skills but also a heart for service, adaptability, and the ability to foster meaningful relationships within the community to enhance social and personal well-being.
