The institution prides itself on equal consideration for all applicants regarding admission, employment, and participation in its programs without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or limited English proficiency. TJC emphasizes the importance of supporting a community where diverse perspectives are valued and promoted. All positions at the college are on-site and work authorization for any employer in the U.S. is required, as the institution does not sponsor employment visas.

The role of Events & External Operations Manager, Athletics at Tyler Junior College is a vital leadership position within the athletic department responsible for enhancing the visibility and success of NJCAA athletics programs. This position strategically leads a variety of functions including marketing, event promotions, in-game entertainment, ticket sales, merchandise operations, sponsorship development, alumni relations, and community engagement. The primary goal is to create a vibrant game-day atmosphere that draws increased attendance and strengthens ties with the local community, alumni, and other stakeholders.

Planning and executing creative event promotions like theme nights, contests, and giveaways is a key component, along with managing in-game entertainment such as music, sponsor activations, and crowd engagement efforts. Supervising event staff, volunteers, and student workers while collaborating with coaches and operations staff ensures smooth and engaging event experiences.

The position also involves oversight of ticketing strategies to maximize revenue through season tickets, premium seating, group packages, and single-game sales, alongside identifying innovative revenue streams through special events and hospitality offerings. Alumni engagement efforts include developing strategies to reconnect former athletes, coaches, and supporters through targeted events and communications.

Additionally, the role requires administrative leadership including serving as a home game administrator, assisting in strategic departmental planning, and supervising personnel. The position demands excellent knowledge and skills in teamwork, communication, project management, data analysis, and leadership, often requiring work outside typical business hours and moderate travel. A valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record are necessary for travel commitments.

This role is ideal for a motivated individual with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Education Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field, paired with relevant experience in intercollegiate athletics or a similar environment. A commitment to affirmative action, gender equity, and supporting student-athlete academic success is essential.
