With a focus on delivering exceptional comfort and quality, Mattress Firm has established itself as a trusted brand in the sleep industry. Dedicated to providing customers with personalized sleep solutions, the company offers a wide range of mattresses, accessories, and expert guidance to improve nightly rest and overall wellness. Mattress Firm prides itself on its customer-centric approach, professional staff, and commitment to innovation and inclusivity in the workplace. As an equal opportunity employer, Mattress Firm embraces diversity and is committed to providing a non-discriminatory work environment, fostering respect, integrity, and customer focus at all levels of the organization.
The role of Events & Exposition Sleep Expert at Mattress Firm is a dynamic sales position that centers on delivering outstanding customer experiences at various events, including fairs, rodeos, trade shows, expositions, and other special occasions. This role requires a unique blend of product knowledge, sales expertise, and customer service skills to assist event attendees effectively in finding the right sleep solutions suited to their needs. Reporting directly to the Manager of Events & Exposition Sales, this position is classified as a non-exempt, individual contributor role, emphasizing hands-on involvement in all aspects of event sales and logistics.
Candidates for this role should expect to travel approximately 75 percent of the time, requiring residence within the mainland United States and within a 60-90 minute distance from a major U.S. airport to facilitate travel logistics. This extensive travel aspect highlights the importance of flexibility and adaptability in managing event schedules and locations. The position demands active participation in event preparation, including setup and teardown, attending conference calls with management, and adhering to company policies and procedures to ensure smooth event execution.
Key responsibilities include managing inventory carefully to minimize shrink, supporting turnover processes with partner teams, and providing motivational support to colleagues during sales events. Continuous learning is also essential, as the role requires participation in regular training sessions to stay current on Mattress Firm's product offerings and company programs. Confidentiality, professionalism, and appropriate brand representation are cornerstones of this role, along with achieving sales targets related to event volume, margin, and ticket goals.
Safety is a top priority, and strict adherence to all company safety policies and procedures is mandatory to maintain a secure working environment for all staff involved. Effective communication skills are critical for interacting professionally with internal and external contacts, ensuring collaboration and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will exhibit individual sales excellence across product categories and leverage corporate selling strategies to maximize sales opportunities based on key performance indicators.
In addition to core responsibilities, the Events & Exposition Sleep Expert is encouraged to engage proactively with attendees in fast-paced, high-traffic environments, representing Mattress Firm in a polished and professional manner. The role also involves contributing ideas to improve team dynamics, departmental function, and overall company performance through participation in special projects and company initiatives.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about sales and customer service within the retail sleep industry. It combines the thrill of travel and event-based sales with the chance to be a vital part of a company committed to diversity, inclusion, and employee development. Candidates who thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences will find this role rewarding and engaging.
