The Events and Catering Assistant role at Glenaire is a vital position within the community, pivotal in bringing events and catering functions to life. This full-time role demands an organized and detail-oriented individual who thrives behind the scenes ensuring the seamless execution of various events. This position supports the Events lead by assisting in planning, coordination, vendor management, and maintaining the high standards of service that Glenaire upholds. The candidate will assist with all facets of event preparation including setup, breakdown, and communication with residents, families, and staff to ensure every event runs smoothly and surpasses expectations.

As the Events and Catering Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences for residents by helping to manage catering orders, inventory, supplies, and ensuring food presentation meets quality and cleanliness standards. This role requires weekend availability and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting items up to 50 pounds. Working in a team-oriented environment, the assistant is expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, organizational aptitude, and a positive attitude that aligns with Glenaire’s mission of service and community support.

Job Requirements

  • Previous event or catering experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Positive and professional attitude
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous hospitality, catering, restaurant, or event experience
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Team-oriented with a positive and professional attitude
  • Experience with banquet or catering operations
  • Familiarity with Canva
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices
  • Familiarity with event scheduling or booking software
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Job Duties

  • Assist with planning and coordinating events, meetings, banquets, and catering functions
  • Assisting residents and team members create memorable events
  • Support event setup and breakdown, including tables, décor, signage, and catering stations
  • Communicate with residents, family members, and internal teams regarding event details and timelines
  • Help manage catering orders, inventory, and supplies
  • Ensure food presentation and service areas meet quality and cleanliness standards
  • Provide excellent customer service before, during, and after events
  • Assist with scheduling, confirmations, and administrative event tasks
  • Monitor event flow and address resident needs promptly
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • Support the Events or Catering Coordinator with additional duties as needed
