The Helms Hall, a prominent venue managed by Evansville Goodwill, is dedicated to hosting diverse community events that bring people together and support the organization's mission. As part of the Evansville Goodwill team, the Event Venue Staff role at The Helms Hall plays an essential role in ensuring the success of these events. This part-time, hourly non-exempt position pays $17.00 per hour and involves flexible, as-needed scheduling based on event bookings. Staff must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate a range of event schedules. This role is uniquely positioned to contribute to a welcoming, safe, and well-organized environment, ultimately helping the community engage and connect through meaningful experiences.

In this role, the Event Venue Staff are responsible for supporting event setup and teardown by arranging tables, chairs, decor, and equipment to ensure venues are event-ready before and after each function. They provide excellent guest service by greeting attendees, answering questions, and promoting a hospitable atmosphere. The team collaborates closely with event managers and vendors, assisting with logistics such as load-in/load-out and on-site coordination. Monitoring safety, cleanliness, and the flow of event spaces is a critical aspect of this position, as is restocking supplies and managing waste efficiently. Staff members are trained to operate basic equipment and strictly adhere to safety protocols and venue policies.

Beyond operational duties, the role includes supporting administrative tasks like conducting venue tours, tracking inventory, documenting events, and capturing content for social media. The position demands a high degree of teamwork, professionalism, reliability, and physical endurance, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds independently and assist with heavier items. Candidates should have solid communication and interpersonal skills, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to multitask in dynamic environments. Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs independently and assist with heavier items as needed

  • must pass pre-employment background check and drug alcohol screening

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • experience in events hospitality or customer service preferred

Job Duties

  • Set up and tear down event spaces including tables chairs decor and equipment ensuring readiness before and after events
  • provide excellent guest service by greeting attendees answering questions and supporting a welcoming environment
  • assist Event Manager and vendors with event logistics including load-in load-out and on-site coordination
