Job Description
Encore is a leading global provider of event technology services specializing in audiovisual solutions tailored to the hospitality industry. Known for delivering high-quality and innovative event technology, Encore partners with hotels, convention centers, and various venues worldwide to ensure seamless execution of conferences, meetings, and other special events. The company prides itself on its commitment to exceptional customer service, professionalism, and technical expertise, helping clients achieve memorable and impactful experiences through the effective use of audiovisual technology.
The Technician role at Encore involves the setup, operation, and dismantling of basic and small-scale audiovisual systems within a hospitality environment, typically in hotels or convention centers. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that every event runs smoothly from a technical perspective, contributing significantly to customer satisfaction and event success. Reporting to an Operations Manager, Operations Director, or Director of Event Technology, the Technician works closely with internal teams and external clients to provide technical support, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain a positive rapport throughout the event.
This role is hourly paid, with a salary range of $14.22 to $18.49 per hour, reflecting factors such as experience, location, and specific skill sets. Technicians must be adaptable, embracing varied work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts to meet the dynamic needs of event schedules.
Technicians are responsible for managing audiovisual equipment such as projectors, microphones, speakers, mixers, and other related devices. Their duties extend beyond technical operation to include high-quality customer service, proactive communication with event attendees, and maintaining a professional relationship with clients. Technicians also play a critical role in following standardized company processes, completing accurate system entries and paperwork, and assisting with up-selling techniques to enhance revenue opportunities.
The position requires a good understanding of basic technical concepts and the ability to troubleshoot common audiovisual equipment and software challenges. Technicians must be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, often involving lifting equipment up to 50 pounds or more, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasionally working at heights using lifts or ladders. Attention to safety and adherence to company appearance and conduct standards is essential.
Encore values continuous learning and requires all external applicants to complete necessary training and certifications within 60 days of their start date. Internal applicants are also expected to meet or complete all training and certification requirements as designated by the company’s Global Learning Training Program. Prior customer service and audiovisual experience, particularly in hospitality or educational settings, are preferred but not mandatory.
Working environments involve exposure to moderately quiet to noisy settings with some exposure to dust, dirt, or outdoor temperatures. The role requires individuals who are team-oriented, tech-savvy, and committed to delivering world-class service while upholding safety and ethical standards. Encore fosters an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity and promotes a sense of belonging among its employees.
Overall, the Technician role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about technology and customer service to thrive in a dynamic event technology company. With comprehensive training, a supportive work environment, and the prospect for career growth within a globally recognized organization, Encore presents an attractive career path for those seeking to excel in the audiovisual and hospitality sectors.
