The position of Technical Specialist at Encore involves the technical setup and operation of mid-level production events within a hospitality environment. Reporting to the Associate Director or Director of Project Management, this role is crucial in ensuring seamless event execution by managing advanced audiovisual equipment from setup to breakdown. The Technical Specialist acts as a technical expert, troubleshooting issues swiftly to minimize disruptions, and provides excellent customer service by maintaining positive relationships with clients and the internal team. The role demands collaboration across departments to achieve high standards of client satisfaction and deliver world-class service.

Candidates will be expected to mentor and develop team members by offering coaching and fostering technical and leadership skills. Staying current with the latest industry technologies and trends is essential to maintain Encore’s reputation as a leader in event technology. The position also involves supervising other technicians during events, helping maintain and secure valuable equipment through proper handling and inventory management. Working conditions include hotel and warehouse environments with exposure to various physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of event technology experience specializing in audio, lighting, projection, or video
  • 3-4 years of customer service or hospitality experience preferred
  • Completion of all required training and certifications within specified timelines
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse individuals and senior management
  • Valid driver’s license if position requires operation of company vehicles
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must meet physical demands including standing, walking, stooping, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching, climbing, grasping as outlined
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • 3+ years of event technology experience with specialty in audio, lighting, projection, or video is required
  • 3-4 years of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with a diverse workforce, customer base and senior level management
  • Strong customer, client and coworker interface experience and abilities
  • A valid driver’s license is required for team members in positions that may operate company vehicles
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Job Duties

  • Ensures a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of advanced audiovisual equipment
  • Troubleshoots technical issues and resolve problems quickly as they arise
  • Complies with all company security and safety measures
  • Ensures equipment is secure from theft and/or damage when in use
  • Provides excellent service and strives to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers
  • Maintains a positive relationship with all clients through effective communication
  • Collaborates with internal team on event solutions pre-event and during event to ensure the best possible customer satisfaction
  • Creates an atmosphere that fosters the development of technical and leadership skills in other employees
  • Provides mentorship and coaching to technical, sales and operations team members to develop technical skills as needed
  • Develops self as subject matter expert in discipline of specialty
  • Stays current with technology and industry trends
  • Performs advanced work with operations team members pre, during, post event
  • Supervises and directs other technicians during an event
  • Assists team with proper security, storage, inventory, transportation, and maintenance of equipment
  • Performs inventory and forecasting of equipment needs
