The City of Port St. Lucie is seeking a skilled and dedicated Event Tech Division Supervisor to oversee and direct the daily operations of the Event Tech Division at the MidFlorida Event Center. This full-time position offers a competitive starting salary range of $34.57 to $39.76 per hour, depending on the candidate's qualifications, alongside the opportunity to work in a vital role that significantly contributes to the success of the City's event services. The successful candidate will supervise a team of skilled and semi-skilled workers, ensuring the flawless setup, operation, and breakdown of event-related technology and facility arrangements. This role requires hands-on involvement in managing lighting, audio, video systems, and various event setups, making it both supervisory and practical.

As a key figure in the Event Tech Division, the supervisor will be responsible for managing event operations that range from conventions to festivals, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The role necessitates strong leadership skills, with an emphasis on team-building, problem-solving, and decision-making under pressure. The supervisor will work closely with event coordinators, internal teams, and external vendors to deliver exceptional service and maintain the high standards of the MidFlorida Event Center. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • at least seven years of relevant experience in event or entertainment services
  • proven supervisory experience with a team of eight or more
  • valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days
  • ability to pass a drug screening
  • physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks
  • flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • ability to operate light motorized equipment
  • strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • commitment to safety and adherence to protocols

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
  • minimum of seven years of experience in event or entertainment services or a comparable area
  • previous supervisory experience required
  • familiarity with AV equipment and event setup preferred
  • possession of a valid driver's license with ability to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days
  • strong leadership and team-building skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques

Job Duties

  • Supervise and direct daily operations of the Event Tech Division
  • set up, operate, and take down lighting, audio, and video systems
  • provide training and support on AV equipment use
  • move, position, and arrange chairs, tables, and other furniture for events
  • operate light motorized equipment and perform light repair and maintenance
  • conduct daily facility safety checks
  • develop goals and oversee projects including grounds keeping and event set up
  • prepare quotations and estimates for materials and supplies
  • communicate clearly and effectively with staff and event coordinators
  • attend event and operations meetings
  • maintain records and documentation
  • ensure compliance with safety standards
  • lead, train, and evaluate division staff
  • work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • perform other related duties as assigned
