Job Description

Our client, located in New York City on the Upper East Side, is a distinguished establishment specializing in hosting a variety of events that require meticulous preparation and support to ensure flawless execution. This company operates in the hospitality sector, where customer satisfaction and operational excellence are paramount. They are currently seeking a reliable and dedicated Event Support / Kitchen Cleaner to join their team on a temporary basis for the long term. This opportunity is onsite and involves working irregular hours, specifically during events which typically take place from around 3:30 pm to 10:30 pm, or until all event-related tasks are completed. The position requires availability for approximately 1-5 days per month, offering a pay rate of $21-$25 per hour depending on experience.

This distinctive role involves supporting the kitchen and event floor operations to ensure smooth service delivery and a clean, orderly environment. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in backing up chefs and floor staff by performing essential kitchen duties such as washing and drying dishes, assisting in kitchen organization, and maintaining high hygiene standards. On the event floor, responsibilities extend to checking and cleaning all areas including event spaces, restrooms, and table settings to meet the highest standards before, during, and after events. Post-event cleaning duties include light cleaning of all used spaces and washing linens and clothes, which may occur the day after an event, demonstrating the need for flexibility in scheduling and commitment to thoroughness.

Japanese language proficiency is preferred for this role, as effective communication with Japanese-speaking chefs and floor staff is necessary to provide seamless support. The role demands a candidate who is highly skilled in housekeeping and kitchen organizing, possesses a strong sense of hygiene, and is meticulous in their work. Preferred candidates will demonstrate an affinity for cleanliness and organization, being knowledgeable about washing, cleaning, and cooking practices, and able to perform their duties efficiently and carefully. A calm problem-solving attitude and a collaborative spirit are also valuable traits, as the position requires active cooperation with other team members to handle various situations smoothly.

Working as an Event Support / Kitchen Cleaner in this vibrant setting offers an engaging chance to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional event experiences. The temporary but long-term nature of the position provides ongoing employment opportunities with a flexible schedule, ideal for individuals seeking part-time work with meaningful responsibilities. Candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments and take pride in maintaining cleanliness and order in event and kitchen settings will find this role rewarding and fulfilling. This position not only contributes to the success of memorable events but also supports a culture of excellence and attention to detail that is vital in the hospitality industry.
