The Event Staff I - Crowd Manager role at UVU is a vital frontline position, focused on supporting smooth event operations and ensuring guest safety and satisfaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced, public-facing environment, engaging with diverse event attendees including patrons, donors, visiting artists, university personnel, and members of the community. The role is instrumental in delivering excellent customer service through assisting guests with entry, seating arrangements, and ADA accommodations. The Crowd Manager ensures that venue policies are followed while promoting a safe, orderly, and secure atmosphere during each event.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of experience in customer service, guest services, event staffing, ushering, or a related public-facing role preferred
  • Experience working in a sports, entertainment, performing arts, or university event venue
  • Experience with ticket scanning, guest screening, ADA seating assistance, or front-of-house event operations
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable hours based on event schedules
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and focused during high-pressure situations or emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of experience in customer service, guest services, event staffing, ushering, or a related public-facing role preferred
  • Experience working in a sports, entertainment, performing arts, or university event venue
  • Experience with ticket scanning, guest screening, ADA seating assistance, or front-of-house event operations
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patrons, scanning or validating tickets, answering questions, and assisting guests with seating, ADA accommodations, venue amenities, and event information
  • Monitor guest activity and assigned public areas to support a safe, orderly, and secure event environment
  • Assist with crowd movement, ingress and egress, and security screenings as assigned
  • Identify and report safety concerns, suspicious activity, prohibited items, congestion, or behavioral issues to supervisors in accordance with venue procedures
  • Support event operations before, during, and after events by maintaining assigned posts, helping prepare public areas for guest use, keeping lobbies and seating areas neat and organized, and assisting with opening, event, and closing responsibilities as assigned
  • Assist with communicating and reinforcing venue policies, event rules, and guest expectations professionally
  • Observe and report guest concerns, policy violations, and routine incidents to supervisors, event security, or other appropriate personnel in accordance with venue procedures
  • Assist with emergency response actions by remaining alert, following staff direction, helping communicate instructions to guests, and supporting orderly movement during alarms, evacuations, shelter-in-place situations, or other emergency conditions
