Job Description

Indeed Flex is a dynamic staffing company that connects workers with flexible job opportunities across a variety of industries. Known for facilitating temporary and event-based work, Indeed Flex emphasizes flexibility and accessibility, enabling candidates to find shifts that fit their schedules and preferences. The company aims to build a diverse workforce and fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment for all its employees.

This particular role is for Event Staff at one of the most prominent celebrations on the University of Texas at Austin calendar—Graduation Day. This is a temporary event-based job scheduled for the day of graduation, with a pay rate of $18 per hour. The position involves working on-site at the university to support the smooth execution of graduation festivities for thousands of graduates and their families. You will be part of a team dedicated to making this large-scale event seamless and memorable for the Longhorn community.

As Event Staff, your primary duties will include welcoming graduates and guests, enforcing the university's clear bag policy, distributing clear bags when necessary, and assisting with parking logistics. This outdoor, fast-paced, and team-based position requires effective communication, customer-service orientation, and the ability to stand and work outdoors for extended periods. Attendance and punctuality are critical, as late arrivals will not be permitted to work.

Moreover, comprehensive coordination with your supervisors and fellow staff members will be essential. You will be helping manage pedestrian and vehicular traffic flow around parking lots, garages, and designated areas throughout the campus. Staff receive water on-site and access to a user-friendly app to browse and claim shifts, allowing for enhanced flexibility and convenience in scheduling. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a lively university event, gain experience in event management, and engage with a diverse community in a supportive environment.

Uniform compliance is mandatory, including a white polo or t-shirt with sleeves and no logos, paired with black or khaki shorts or pants meeting specific guidelines. Comfortable, closed-toed tennis shoes are required, and staff must adhere to on-site policies such as no cell phone usage while on duty and maintaining the tobacco-free campus rules. Furthermore, self-managed restroom breaks are allowed with proper notification of coworkers or supervisors.

Indeed Flex is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. They actively promote a workplace culture where all employees feel a sense of belonging regardless of background. They also provide accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and embrace fair chance hiring practices, welcoming applicants from various life experiences, including those with prior criminal records.

Overall, this job represents a unique chance to contribute to one of the University of Texas at Austin's most significant events, earn competitive pay, and enjoy the flexibility and support that Indeed Flex offers to its temporary workforce.
