The role available at Colonial Downs is that of a Crowd Control Security Officer for the live racing summer season. This position entails providing security details as outlined in specific post orders and establishing collaborative working relationships with customers, as well as with local law enforcement and fire departments. Security personnel are tasked with maintaining constant situational awareness, monitoring all activity within their assigned areas, and ensuring the safety of guests and employees. The position requires maintaining a professional image at all times, delivering excellent customer service, and responding effectively to various situations. Key responsibilities include controlling entrances and managing pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow, patrolling buildings and perimeters, escorting materials and personnel, and inspecting security and fire safety exposures. Security officers may also undertake special assignments as needed.

In this role, security officers must be punctual, carry themselves with professionalism, and greet customers, visitors, and colleagues in a polite and friendly manner. They must be proactive in understanding and implementing revisions to post orders and other important communications. Officers are expected to monitor physical property or fixed posts diligently, report suspicious activities, investigate accidents or criminal acts, and continuously monitor equipment such as cameras. Familiarity with emergency policies, procedures, and regulations is essential to respond swiftly to alarms and emergency situations. The job also involves completing detailed daily activity and incident reports, offering recommendations for improving safety and loss prevention, and ensuring operational continuity of critical safety equipment like fire panels, CCTV systems, elevators, and access doors.
