Job Description
California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) hosts the Arboretum and Botanical Garden, an esteemed living and historical collection dedicated to supporting the academic mission of the university. The garden is a vital resource that extends educational opportunities not only to students but to community members across various life stages. It promotes a deeper appreciation for plant conservation, botanical research, and horticulture on both a local and global scale. Situated on the CSUF campus, the Arboretum and Botanical Garden is recognized for its role in preserving diverse plant species and serving as a hands-on learning facility for students and visitors alike. As an academic and community hub, it offers a unique, beautiful venue for various special events that highlight the natural elegance of the garden's surroundings.
The Event Staff position at the Arboretum is an essential on-call, part-time role focused on facilitating and coordinating event logistics in this lush, botanical setting. This role is crucial for ensuring that rental events including weddings, receptions, and other celebrations run smoothly and efficiently. Event Staff responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, assisting with guest and equipment set-up in accordance with event diagrams, managing guest relations, and maintaining overall event security and cleanliness. The staff member will also act as a liaison between the event coordinator and various parties involved, providing clear communication and allowing the event to proceed without interruption. Additional duties include the opening and closing of the Heritage House for bridal parties, supervising event vendors, securing the grounds post-event, and providing any special assistance necessary to vendors or guests. This role requires flexibility with scheduling, as hours are variable, including nights and weekends. Working in a dynamic, outdoor environment, Event Staff must be attentive, organized, and proactive in managing event needs while contributing to the preservation of the Arboretum’s peaceful and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a respected university institution, engage with a diverse community, and develop skills in event coordination and customer service within a distinguished botanical garden setting.
