Job Description

SMX, LLC is a dynamic event operations company staffing key roles at global sporting events to ensure the safe and efficient movement of attendees. Specializing in large-scale event logistics, SMX provides staffing solutions that streamline operations in high-volume venues. As an integral part of the sporting event transport operations in Kansas City, SMX supports smooth passenger flow and maintains operational safety in busy transport hubs and venue loading zones. This company is committed to professionalism, safety compliance, and excellent customer service, making it a trusted partner in event management.

The Event Staff role at SMX is a frontline position within the Venue Operations team, essential in managing passenger movement and safety during sporting event transport activities. This part-time, temporary, or contract position offers an hourly wage between $17.00 and $20.00 and is ideal for individuals who are flexible and enjoy working in fast-paced, people-oriented environments.

The core responsibility of the Event Staff is to direct spectators through organized queue areas, assist with boarding and disembarkation processes, and help maintain safe operations around active bus loading bays. This involves maintaining a strong visible presence in high-traffic zones, providing clear and courteous wayfinding assistance, and supporting safe interaction between pedestrians and vehicles. Attention to situational awareness is critical to anticipate and solve operational challenges such as congestion and delays in real-time.

Beyond ensuring passenger flow, Event Staff serve as essential safety monitors who identify and report hazards, enforce operational procedures, and assist with contingency responses during disruptions. The role demands excellent interpersonal communication skills to engage professionally and respectfully with diverse international visitors and operational teams. Candidates should be physically capable of standing and walking for extended periods and must be comfortable working in outdoor, busy, and sometimes high-pressure conditions.

This position represents an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in event staffing, transport operations, or sports management. While prior experience in related roles is a plus, training and detailed operational guidelines support every team member to succeed on the job. The company values applicants with multilingual abilities and familiarity with Kansas City venues, transport routes, and ADA accessibility standards.

The work environment includes all shifts with a particular emphasis on weekends and match days, where the volume of spectators is highest. To ensure personal safety, staff members are required to wear high-visibility personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow strict safety protocols. SMX fosters inclusion and equal opportunity in its hiring practices and accommodates candidates with disabilities during the recruitment process.

Overall, the Event Staff role is critical to delivering a secure, enjoyable, and efficient sporting event transport experience, supporting both the venue's operational success and spectator satisfaction. The position combines elements of customer service, safety oversight, and operational support, providing a rewarding environment for proactive, attentive individuals eager to contribute to major event logistics.
