Job Description

The Event Specialist role at Henry Ford Health under the guidance of the Manager of Special Events is a critical position responsible for the end-to-end management of diverse events associated with the organization. The individual serving in this role will take the lead on planning, organizing, and executing Continuing Medical Education (CME) symposiums, conferences, chair dinners, receptions, and enterprise-wide events. These events are held in collaboration with the Henry Ford Medical Group, the Henry Ford Health Development Office, and key external and internal partners.

The position demands a professional with excellent project management skills who can successfully develop and maintain detailed project plans and budgets. The Event Specialist will play an integral role in enhancing the Henry Ford Health and Henry Ford Medical Group brands by ensuring that every event meets high standards of quality and professionalism. This is achieved through meticulous coordination with committees, vendors, volunteers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless event delivery.

In addition to managing assigned events, the Event Specialist will contribute to broader team efforts and assist colleagues when necessary, showcasing flexibility and teamwork. The role also includes responsibilities such as managing logistics, overseeing event materials and signage, and occasionally performing physical tasks like packing and moving event-related equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Communications, Hospitality, or related field or seven or more years of experience in event planning, marketing, or fundraising required in lieu of a Bachelors degree
  • At least three or more years previous event planning experience
  • Strong, documented record of success in special events management, with evidence of working successfully with clients, committees, volunteers and vendors
  • Strong project management, communication, team building and organizational skills
  • Raisers Edge preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Serve as the lead event planner on assigned events, ensuring each event is developed, planned and executed successfully, enhancing the brand and reputation of Henry Ford Health and Henry Ford Medical Group
  • Develop and maintain project plans and budgets
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal partners, colleagues, committee members and vendors, with particular emphasis on Henry Ford Medical Group events
  • Work with event team colleagues on projects when and where needed
  • Other responsibilities and assignments, as required
