The Event Specialist position at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville is a full-time (40 hours per week) role responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing various agency events, including fundraising activities, donor and partner appreciation events, home dedications, and other public-facing occasions that align with the mission and branding of Habitat. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, this role involves extensive collaboration with agency leadership and departmental teams to ensure the successful delivery of events that engage the community and support fundraising goals. Essential to this role is the management of relationships with local venues, vendors, sponsors, and community partners throughout the service area, serving as a key ambassador for Habitat. The specialist is tasked with delivering high-quality event experiences that not only raise funds but also foster lasting community bonds.
Additional responsibilities include managing the marketing and communications content calendar, assisting with social media content creation, coordinating the agency’s monthly newsletter production, and contributing to promotional materials and press releases in collaboration with the marketing team. The role demands exceptional communication skills, creativity, and organizational ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Candidates should be prepared for travel across the five-county region and must demonstrate commitment to Habitat’s values and fundraising goals. This position may require availability during after-hours and weekends for special events, with occasional overtime offered. Job Requirements
- ability to work 40 hours per week, monday - friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- availability for after hour and weekend special events
- satisfactory attendance required
- ability to lift up to 20 pounds with assistance
- must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Job Qualifications
- college degree preferred, extensive work experience may be substituted
- 3 or more years of experience in marketing, communications, development, special events, public relations or related fields strongly preferred
- experience managing social media platforms, content calendars, newsletters or marketing communications preferred
- strong writing, editing and storytelling skills
- proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- ability to learn Salesforce or similar CRM systems and Adobe
- ability to bring energy, creativity and community relations expertise that positively impacts sponsors, donors and partners
- ability and desire to work respectfully with people of all cultures, languages, national origins, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, classes, immigration statuses, sexual orientations, gender identity and expressions, ages, mental or physical abilities and other diversity factors
- must conduct all activities in accordance with Habitat principles
Job Duties
- serve as a key ambassador for habitat, building and maintaining relationships with local venues, vendors, sponsors, community partners and advisory council members
- plan, implement and evaluate agency events including home dedication celebrations, houses of hope fundraising events, golf classic, supporters holiday breakfast and other special events
- coordinate staff volunteers for events and special projects
- support events relating to agency affinity builds including women build, music row build, methodist build, unity build and others as needed
- manage and maintain the agency marketing and communications content calendar
- assist in creating, scheduling and publishing content across agency social media platforms
- coordinate production of the monthly agency newsletter by assisting in content gathering, editorial planning, writing and editing articles and ensuring timely distribution
- assist with photography and content creation for events and communications initiatives
- coordinate with marketing team on event-related communications materials, press releases and promotional materials
- build and maintain relationships with local venues, caterers, food vendors, suppliers, sponsors and community partners
- coordinate communications and engagement activities with county advisory council members
- serve as a habitat representative at community events, service fairs and partner activities
- assist with build-site coverage and volunteer support
- provide scheduled front desk coverage during staff breaks and lunch periods
- manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities simultaneously
- perform other duties as assigned by management
