Job Description
Misunderstood Brands is a vibrant start-up spirits company founded by two childhood friends in New Jersey. Originating from a kitchen recipe, the company has grown to become a recognized name in the spirits industry, specializing in premium infused whiskeys and innovative dairy-free cream liqueurs. The company is home to Misunderstood Whiskey, a brand dedicated to producing the finest infused whiskeys available in the market, and OATRAGEOUS Oat Milk Liqueur, the first dairy-free, plant-based cream liqueur portfolio in the United States. Misunderstood Brands emphasizes quality ingredients and sustainability, underscoring its commitment to the planet throughout the production process.
With its award-winning products embraced by customers across more than 30 states and three countries, Misunderstood Brands is on an exciting growth trajectory. Innovation is at the heart of its ongoing development, with a dynamic team poised to expand alongside the company’s increasing market presence. This company fosters a culture of creativity and passion, making it an attractive employer for individuals seeking to work in an innovative and values-driven environment.
The role of an Event Specialist with Misunderstood Whiskey and OATRAGEOUS presents an exceptional opportunity to engage directly with consumers and help grow the brand's visibility and customer base. This part-time, 1099 position is ideal for those passionate about the spirits industry, eager to provide memorable tasting experiences, and motivated to drive brand loyalty. The Event Specialist will be entrusted with organizing and executing whiskey tasting events primarily at liquor stores and key consumer activations throughout the region, creating engaging experiences that communicate the brand’s story and product uniqueness.
Successful candidates will develop deep product knowledge to effectively educate customers on flavor profiles and brand heritage. The role demands strong interpersonal skills to foster meaningful customer interactions and encourage product trial and sales. As a brand ambassador, the Event Specialist is expected to embody the company’s values with professionalism and enthusiasm, representing Misunderstood Brands with authenticity. Alongside the promotional duties, the specialist will coordinate event logistics working closely with retail partners to ensure smooth operations and optimal customer experiences.
Inventory management at events is also a critical function, requiring vigilance to maintain sufficient stock and timely reporting to management. Feedback collection to inform marketing and sales strategies rounds out the responsibilities. This role offers a unique blend of fieldwork and customer engagement, suited for self-motivated individuals able to work independently or as part of a team, with flexibility in scheduling including evenings and weekends.
Compensation is competitive, including an hourly wage supplemented by sales commissions, reflecting the company’s commitment to rewarding performance. Training and ongoing support are provided to enhance product knowledge and event management skills. Being part of Misunderstood Brands means being involved in a growing brand with networking opportunities within the spirits industry and a chance to contribute to a sustainable and innovative product portfolio.
