Job Description
Advantage Capital is a distinguished impact investment firm that aims to use capital as a powerful tool to increase economic mobility, especially within underserved communities. Established in 1992, the firm has invested over $2.5 billion across nearly 800 small businesses, predominantly within economically distressed urban and rural neighborhoods. Advantage Capital has cultivated successful public-private partnerships with numerous state and federal economic development organizations, contributing to the creation of over 70,000 high-quality permanent jobs. In addition to economic development, the firm advances community well-being through its initiatives in affordable housing and renewable energy. With a workforce of over 200 professionals, Advantage Capital operates from multiple offices nationwide, including prominent locations such as St. Louis, New Orleans, New York, Austin, and Napa.
The role of the Event Specialist at Advantage Capital, stationed in their New Orleans office, is an excellent opportunity for an individual early in their career who is eager to contribute to the organization’s mission through expert event planning and execution. This position focuses on supporting high-quality, polished events that foster strong relationships with the firm’s diverse stakeholders, including partners, investors, developers, as well as internal teams. Events coordinated by the Event Specialist range from premium conferences and meetings to dinners and other firm-hosted engagements designed to promote networking, collaboration, and partnership building.
Candidates suited for this role will demonstrate a passion for hospitality, a discerning eye for quality and details, and excellent organizational skills. They will be socially confident, enjoy staying current with trends in restaurants and travel, and thrive in dynamic professional environments. The Event Specialist’s responsibilities cover the full spectrum of event management, from researching venues and vendors to managing logistics such as timelines, travel arrangements, guest coordination, and budgets. The role demands hands-on involvement and responsive communication, ensuring flawless and memorable experiences that uphold Advantage Capital’s standards of excellence.
The successful candidate will also act as the primary liaison for both internal and external stakeholders throughout the event lifecycle. Onsite event leadership and real-time problem-solving are critical elements, requiring strong judgment, adaptability, and a proactive mindset. The Event Specialist position requires full-time office presence in New Orleans with occasional travel to adjacent event locations as needed. This role is vital in reinforcing Advantage Capital’s brand identity through exceptional event experiences that reflect the company’s commitment to uplifting communities and driving economic development.
