Job Description
Legends Global is a premier company specializing in the management of live events, venue operations, and hospitality services on a global scale. With a portfolio that includes over 350 iconic venues worldwide, Legends Global is well-recognized for delivering unparalleled event experiences through a comprehensive 360-degree approach. This includes integrating partnerships, premium guest experiences, merchandise opportunities, cutting-edge technology, and seamless operational excellence. The company is driven by a commitment to redefine standards in live events and venue management, crafting unforgettable moments for guests and exceptional results for clients.
Huntington Place, located in Detroit, Michigan, is one of the flagship venues under Legends Global's management. As the 16th largest convention center in the United States, Huntington Place embodies the dynamic spirit of Detroit by blending innovation, energy, and resilience. It serves as a central hub for hosting a broad range of events including conventions, exhibitions, meetings, and entertainment experiences. The venue's extensive facilities and strategic location in the Motor City make it a highly sought-after destination for both national and international events. Working at Huntington Place means contributing to a vibrant environment where world-class event experiences are constantly being shaped and improved.
The role of Event Setup/Teardown Staff (Part-Time) at Huntington Place is pivotal to the successful execution of events hosted at the venue. This position focuses on the physical preparation and breakdown of event spaces such as meeting rooms, exhibit halls, and ballrooms, ensuring every setup aligns meticulously with client specifications. Under the guidance of a Shift Supervisor, the staff member assists in moving equipment and furniture, staging materials, and reading blueprints and floorplans to guarantee accurate room layouts. This role demands a balance of physical capability and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
In addition to event setup and teardown, the position involves operating and maintaining various types of equipment including forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts. The individual is expected to uphold safety standards rigorously, handle tools and materials with care, and maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of all equipment. Strong collaboration with other team members is essential to ensure events are executed smoothly and within scheduled timelines.
The part-time nature of this role allows for flexibility, making it ideal for those who want to be part of the live events industry without committing to full-time employment. Employees benefit from working in a supportive environment offering secured onsite parking and opportunities to develop skills related to material handling, event logistics, and equipment operation. This position offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience, and comprehensive benefits commence from day one including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with company match. Overall, working in this role offers a unique chance to play a critical support function within a leading live events company at one of the country’s largest and most prestigious convention centers.
