Job Description

The Classic Center, located in Athens, GA, is a premier convention center and event venue known for hosting a diverse range of gatherings, from large-scale conventions and trade shows to intimate community celebrations. As a central hub for events in the region, The Classic Center is dedicated to providing outstanding service and memorable experiences for all attendees and clients. With its modern facilities, versatile spaces, and commitment to excellence, the center stands as a vibrant and essential location for business, culture, and community engagement. The Classic Center is committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace that values teamwork, reliability, and professionalism.

We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable individual to join our Convention Center Operations team. This is a part-time position offering an average of 32 to 40 hours per week and an hourly pay of $15.85. The role primarily involves hands-on, fast-paced work assisting with event setup, execution, and teardown. In this position, you will be a vital part of the team that transforms the venue between events, ensuring that every setup—from tables and chairs to elaborate stages and trade show configurations—is executed seamlessly and safely. You will be responsible for translating event layouts from diagrams and manager instructions into physical setups while adhering to safety protocols and best practices.

The nature of the role means working varied evening shifts and weekends, as events occur regularly and demand flexibility. You will work alongside a dedicated event staff team to prepare for each event, handle day-of-event requests, and assist with efficient post-event dismantling. Your contributions directly impact the smooth operation of The Classic Center and the experience of event attendees.

Additionally, organization and maintenance are critical components of this role. You will help keep storage areas clean and orderly, manage equipment and tool storage, and participate in annual inventories, ensuring that all resources are accounted for and in good condition. Because no two events are alike, you will also assist with other duties as assigned, requiring adaptability and a proactive attitude.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working behind the scenes, have a strong work ethic, and take pride in being part of a team that makes events happen flawlessly. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in a similar environment such as arenas, stadiums, theaters, or convention centers. Reliable transportation, physical ability to perform demanding tasks, and a willingness to obtain necessary licenses such as a forklift license and a valid state driver’s license are essential.

In joining The Classic Center, you will become part of an organization that values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. We provide a safe and supportive work environment committed to upholding the rights of all employees and applicants under federal, state, and local laws. The Classic Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not tolerate harassment or discrimination and strives to maintain a workplace where everyone is respected and valued. By joining our team, you will contribute to creating memorable experiences for countless guests while building your career in an exciting and dynamic industry.
