Job Description

Special Event Management is a reputable company specializing in organizing and managing various special events, ranging from trade shows to large expos and conferences. Based in Reno, NV, the company is recognized for its meticulous attention to detail and commitment to delivering top-notch event management services. Special Event Management prides itself on creating seamless event experiences by providing skilled staff and comprehensive logistical support to ensure every event runs smoothly. The organizational culture values reliability, teamwork, and a proactive approach to challenges, fostering a collaborative environment where employees can thrive and contribute to successful event outcomes.

The Event Setup Crew position at Special Event Management is a temporary project-based role available from March 21 to March 25 in Reno, NV. This job offers an hourly pay rate of $25 and involves full-day shifts exceeding eight hours each day. This role is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on, physical work as part of a team responsible for preparing large-scale event spaces. The primary responsibility involves setting up a ballroom for a trade show called Woodland Urban Interface, which includes building the framework, installing protective materials, arranging booths, and general event setup activities. The work requires physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks including lifting weights over 50 pounds, standing for prolonged periods, and working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, team members will undertake duties such as building pipe and drape frameworks that serve as partitions and backdrops, laying down visqueen plastic to protect flooring during heavy equipment and vehicle movement, setting up and arranging booths to showcase exhibitors effectively, and managing the setup of over 100 tables and chairs to accommodate event attendees. The position also involves both event setup and strike duties, meaning crew members participate not only in the initial preparation but also in the teardown and cleanup after an event concludes. Special Event Management emphasizes the importance of punctuality and reliability, as timely setup is critical to event success.

Applicants with prior experience in sectors such as stagehand work, convention and trade show setups, audiovisual support, warehousing, or construction are highly desired. Understanding the requirements of event logistics and setup processes will make candidates better suited for success in this role. The company requires steel-toe boots and black pants as part of the dress code to ensure safety and uniformity among crew members. Basic tools and a willingness to learn are considered assets.

This opportunity not only offers competitive pay but also the chance to gain valuable experience in event management and labor. Being part of Special Event Management's crew provides exposure to the exciting world of large-scale events and the chance to join future projects based on performance. If you are a hardworking team player who takes direction well and adapts quickly within a team setting, this position could be a perfect match. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply promptly, as qualified applicants will be contacted quickly, reflecting the company's commitment to efficient hiring for time-sensitive projects.
