The Event Setup Coordinator position at Purdue University involves a critical role within the university's event services team. This role is responsible for preparing and setting up meeting and banquet rooms for various special events across campus in accordance with established procedures. Working primarily in the evenings from Thursday through Monday, this position requires physically handling furniture and equipment, often involving heavy lifting and detailed attention to customer specifications. The coordinator works closely with the Events Office staff and clients to ensure that all event spaces are arranged and equipped properly, contributing directly to the success of campus events.
This position offers an hourly wage of $15.75 plus a shift differential, reflecting the importance of the role within the university's event management operations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 plus year service worker or equivalent experience with stable work history
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 60 lbs occasionally
- Ability to climb stairs and stand, walk, reach, and stoop for extended periods
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating teamwork and HFS ACTS principles
- Valid driver’s license preferred

Job Duties
- Set up meeting and banquet rooms for special events in accordance with standard procedures
- Move furniture and equipment, including some heavy lifting
- Oversee preparation and arrangement of event spaces for scheduled functions
- Respond to requests for additional furnishings such as tables, chairs, and lecterns
- Collaborate with Events Office staff and clients to ensure setups meet customer specifications
- Communicate routine issues and report unusual problems to supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned
