As part of its policy, the city adheres strictly to federal, state, and local regulations that govern fair employment practices in all terms and conditions of employment including but not limited to hiring, placement, promotion, termination, compensation, training, and leaves of absence. The City of Little Rock not only values diversity but also actively promotes non-discrimination in every location and role within its municipal framework.
The position available is for an Event Setup Technician at the Statehouse Convention Center and Robinson Center, essential to the success of numerous events hosted by the city. This full-time role is crucial for setting up and tearing down various configurations for events in exhibit halls, ballrooms, and meeting rooms. Candidates will be employed under a safety-sensitive designation because this position involves operating machinery and physical tasks that require compliance with the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment. Additionally, this role is designated as essential personnel under the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) Inclement Weather policy, underscoring its importance during adverse weather conditions.
The Event Setup Technician will be responsible for the physical assembly and arrangement of meeting spaces to accommodate a wide range of events including conferences, banquets, exhibitions, and community meetings. The role involves manual labor such as moving and arranging furniture, setting up audiovisual equipment, and ensuring all setups meet the specifications outlined by the event coordinators. This includes loading, unloading, and maintaining the condition of necessary materials and equipment. The technician must demonstrate mastery in following detailed instructions and working efficiently within deadlines, often during evenings, weekends, and holidays, making flexibility a key attribute.
Applicants typically have at least one year of experience in a related role that involves setting up meeting rooms and arranging furniture layouts for various events. However, equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered. Forklift operator certification is mandatory, and the employee must obtain and maintain this certification within six months of employment to comply with safety standards. The job requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and event managers.
The City offers competitive benefits as part of its full-time employment package, including multiple health insurance options through Cigna with varying levels of coverage and co-pays designed to meet diverse employee needs. Dental and vision insurance plans are also available, with coverage effective shortly after employment commencement. Life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, long-term disability, pension plans, flexible spending accounts, and tuition assistance provide a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee well-being and professional growth.
Overall, this position offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for individuals who are physically fit, safety conscious, and eager to contribute to the successful execution of major city events. The City of Little Rock prides itself on maintaining a supportive work environment that values integrity, service, and community engagement while providing avenues for career development and continuous improvement within municipal facilities management.
