Job Description
The USS Midway Museum, located in San Diego, California, is one of the most iconic and frequently visited aircraft carrier museums in the United States. It serves as a living piece of naval history, offering visitors a unique glimpse into military and maritime life aboard a decommissioned aircraft carrier. The museum features an extensive collection of restored aircraft, exhibits, and interactive displays that bring the rich history of the U.S. Navy to life. With millions of visitors every year, the USS Midway Museum is dedicated to providing an engaging, educational experience in a unique environment that honors the sacrifices and achievements of servicemen and women.
The USS Midway Museum is currently hiring for an Event Setup Representative on an on-call basis, offering a pay rate of $20.00 per hour. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless setup and teardown of equipment and furniture for special events hosted on board this historic naval vessel. The role includes responsibilities such as cleaning, loading, unloading, assembling, and arranging rental furniture and event accessories. Candidates must be available to work AM and PM shifts, including weekends and holidays, given the nature of the events held on the carrier.
Working as an Event Setup Representative at the USS Midway Museum is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are energetic, reliable, and passionate about providing top-notch guest service in a unique and dynamic environment. This job requires physical stamina and the ability to maneuver equipment and materials, as the location demands frequent climbing of stairs and ladders as well as lifting up to 50 pounds. Equipment operated can include aircraft elevators, forklifts, pallet jacks, man lifts, and small power tools, all of which necessitate proper safety and operational knowledge.
The culture at the USS Midway Museum is inclusive and supportive, deeply rooted in teamwork and respect. As part of this team, event setup representatives will interact with various departments and help create memorable event experiences for visitors. Prior related experience is preferred but not required, and candidates must demonstrate reliability, excellent guest service skills, and strong teamwork capabilities. The museum emphasizes equal opportunity employment and accommodation for all employees and applicants under federal and state law, fostering a respectful and accessible workplace.
This role is ideal for those looking for flexible, part-time work in a historic and engaging setting, and who thrive in physically active jobs with hands-on responsibilities. The USS Midway Museum values its employees and offers a work environment that blends history, hospitality, and operational efficiency, making every event a success and every shift an opportunity to contribute to an iconic landmark in San Diego.
