Hyatt Regency Columbus, located within walking distance of Nationwide Arena and the vibrant Arena District, offers a modern and refined hotel experience in downtown Columbus. This distinguished hotel features 633 renovated guest rooms and spacious suites with 70,000 square feet of versatile meeting space. Connected directly to the Greater Columbus Convention Center and conveniently near the Short North Arts District, Hyatt Regency Columbus is a premier destination for both business and leisure travel. Guests can enjoy contemporary accommodations paired with convenient amenities, embodying the dynamic spirit of the city.
The full-time Event Set-Up Team Lead position at Hyatt Regency Columbus is a pivotal role responsible for coordinating and managing the set-up and tear-down of all event functions within the hotel. This job requires a hands-on approach, with regular physical activity including walking, standing, and moving equipment such as tables and chairs. The team lead will work closely with the Events and Event Services departments, ensuring seamless execution of events and delivering exceptional guest service. Candidates should be adaptable to a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and potential holidays, emphasizing the importance of reliability and dedication.
The Event Set-Up Team Lead will oversee the preparation and organization of event spaces for meetings, conferences, banquets, and other hotel functions, maintaining open communication with various hotel departments. With a strong attention to detail, the team lead ensures that every event setup meets Hyatt’s high standards for quality and professionalism. Commitment to demonstrating Hyatt’s core values—empathy, integrity, respect, inclusion, experimentation, and wellbeing—is essential in delivering an outstanding experience for guests and colleagues alike.
This role requires physical stamina and resilience due to the demands of lifting and moving items weighing 25 pounds or more, and the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods. Effective verbal and written communication skills are critical for coordinating with internal teams and managing guest interactions. The ideal candidate brings a positive attitude, a team-oriented mindset, and the motivation to contribute to an environment where hospitality thrives. Experience working in a large-scale event setup environment for at least one year is preferred, providing the candidate with the practical knowledge to manage diverse event requirements efficiently.
Hyatt Regency Columbus offers an exceptional work culture, proudly recognized on FORTUNE’s "100 Best Companies to Work For" list. Joining this team means becoming part of a global family with opportunities for personal growth and professional development. Employees benefit from exclusive discounts at Hyatt hotels worldwide and food and beverage outlets, a discounted flight program, and uniform provision with laundry services. Additional perks include free access to the COTA Bus system for easy commuting, complimentary meals, family-friendly events, and celebratory recognition programs.
The hotel promotes wellbeing as a cornerstone of its purpose, providing free access to the Headspace App for mental wellness and complimentary gym access. Team building, social activities, and sports are encouraged, enhancing employee engagement and health. After 30 days of employment, team members are eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
Career development at Hyatt is flexible and supportive, with ample opportunities for advancement within the company's more than 700 hotels across the United States. Continuous learning is fostered through on-property and online training programs, regular career check-ins, and education assistance up to $1,000 annually to support personal growth.
