Job Description

The University of New Mexico (UNM) is a prestigious public research university located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and fostering an inclusive environment, UNM serves a vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff. Among its many campus resources are the UNM Food Services, LoboCard Office, and the University Club, which collectively provide essential services to enhance the campus experience. These departments focus on delivering exceptional food, event, and guest services customized to the needs of the university community.

The University Club at The Championship Golf Course is a distinguished venue managed under these services, offering a unique combination of dining, social, and event spaces. It functions not only as a gathering spot but also as a hub for hosting special events, receptions, and meetings for students, faculty, staff, and external clients. The Event Services Support role is a student employment position designed to assist in delivering outstanding customer service and operational support across the University Club, UNM Food Services, and the LoboCard Office.

This position is perfect for students who thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy engaging with others, and are eager to gain hands-on experience in event management and customer relations. The role requires interacting with a diverse group of customers, coordinating event logistics, and helping manage day-to-day operations. The hourly pay range for this position is $14.00 to $16.50, reflecting the university’s commitment to offering competitive wages for student staff.

As an Event Services Support team member, you will work closely with the University Club manager to plan and execute special events targeting university members and guests. Your responsibilities will include managing event schedules using specialized software, responding to inquiries through phone and email, conducting tours of event spaces, and ensuring events run smoothly on-site. This role demands strong organizational capabilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to coordinate logistics such as catering, audio-visual setups, and registration processes.

Additionally, you will assist with administrative tasks across multiple departments and contribute to projects like inventory management and vending solutions within UNM Food Services. Evening and weekend availability may be required, depending on event schedules, so flexibility in working hours is essential. This position not only hones your customer service and event coordination skills but also offers an opportunity to be part of a team that supports community engagement and fosters memorable experiences at the university.

Overall, this role serves as an excellent platform for students seeking professional growth within the hospitality and event management industries while balancing academic commitments. The University of New Mexico values diversity and equal opportunity, ensuring that the workplace is welcoming to all candidates regardless of background or identity. By joining the Event Services Support team, you will contribute to a positive campus atmosphere and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
