Job Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Six years of experience in event coordination, including at least one year in a supervisory role
  • College coursework in relevant fields such as hospitality or business administration
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to manage multiple complex events simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Physical ability to work in an office and event facility environment
  • Ability to operate office equipment and relevant software
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and pre-employment medical examinations
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Job Qualifications

  • Six years of responsible professional experience in coordinating events for a large convention center or similar meeting facility
  • At least one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience
  • College-level coursework in hospitality, business administration, communications, public relations, or related field
  • Knowledge of event services operations and management techniques
  • Familiarity with convention center operations and facility management principles
  • Understanding of financial administration including budgeting and auditing
  • Knowledge of labor relations, grievance processes, and contract administration
  • Proficiency in office software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize effectively
  • Experience in handling complex event logistics and customer service
  • Ability to interpret laws, policies, and contractual obligations
  • Effective supervisory and training skills.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate the organization, staffing, and operational activities of Event Services at the Anaheim Convention Center
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for Event Services
  • Recommend and implement resulting policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures
  • Review work products, methods, and procedures
  • Assign work activities and projects
  • Monitor workflow and evaluate work quality
  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate event management staff
  • Implement discipline and termination procedures when necessary
  • Develop and administer program budgets, including forecasting funds and monitoring expenditures
  • Schedule staff to ensure professional coordination of all events
  • Assign Event Managers to scheduled events
  • Manage and coordinate complex and highly sensitive events
  • Resolve disputes arising from simultaneous events
  • Maintain professional relationships with section managers and other departments
  • Facilitate communications between contractors, employees, and the public
  • Prepare and present staff reports and correspondence
  • Coordinate activities with other divisions and outside agencies
  • Participate in weekly staff and post-convention meetings
  • Perform related duties as required.
