Job Description
The City of Anaheim is a vibrant and dynamic municipality known for its rich cultural attractions, entertainment venues, and commitment to community development. Among its standout features is the Anaheim Convention Center (ACC), the largest convention center on the West Coast. Since its opening in 1967, the ACC has grown extensively and now spans 53 acres, offering 1.8 million square feet of functional space that can accommodate a diverse range of events, from conventions and trade shows to meetings and special events. The ACC has a prestigious reputation for hosting some of the most prominent and well-attended events such as the NAMM Show, Disney's D23 Expo, and the Natural Products Expo West. Operating within the Convention, Sports & Entertainment Department of the city, the center is a hub of activity and plays a critical role in Anaheim’s economy and cultural landscape. This role is offered as a full-time opportunity for individuals with a passion for hospitality, event management, and public service.
The City of Anaheim is currently seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Event Services Manager at the Anaheim Convention Center. This leadership position is pivotal in ensuring the seamless execution of events hosted at the ACC. The Event Services Manager will head the events team and oversee the coordination and delivery of conventions, trade shows, meetings, and other large-scale special events. Key responsibilities include managing event management staff, collaborating with operational departments, and fostering strong client and partner relationships to uphold the high standards of the Convention Center's services. This role requires a seasoned professional with at least six years of experience in the events industry, preferably with prior experience in a convention center or a similar venue setting. The successful candidate will be adept in strategic planning, personnel management, operational coordination, and customer service excellence. In addition to providing expert supervision and guidance to the events team, the Event Services Manager will also actively participate in the development and implementation of departmental goals, budgets, and policies. The position demands a high level of coordination to resolve conflicts that may arise during simultaneous events and the ability to maintain effective communication within various departments and with external contractors and stakeholders. The Anaheim Convention Center prides itself on innovation and customer service, making this role critical for upholding and enhancing its reputation as a premier events destination. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment that includes working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. This leadership role also offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Anaheim's thriving events industry and support the city’s broader objectives in hospitality and entertainment.
