Job Description

The Charleston Gaillard Center is a premier 1,800-seat performance hall situated in the heart of Downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Managed by the Charleston Gaillard Management Corporation, a nonprofit 501c3 organization, the center offers not only an expansive venue for performing arts but also encompasses 16,000 square feet of exhibit and meeting space, offices, and public gathering areas. The Event Services Crew position is a part-time, hourly role based at the Charleston Gaillard Center, reporting directly to the Event Services Manager. This role is integral to the successful execution of events within the center’s Exhibition Hall and Performance Hall. Crew members are entrusted with the physical setup and teardown of event equipment including tables, linens, chairs, dance floors, and other necessary items, coordinating their efforts closely with the designated event lead to ensure flawless event preparation and breakdown. The position requires physical stamina and reliability, with expectations to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and maintain mobility throughout shifts that can last up to eight hours. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as shifts may occur during mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Candidates are expected to bring a positive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to perform well under pressure. Successful crew members contribute significantly not only to the operational logistics but also to creating an exceptional guest experience at this renowned performing arts venue. Job Requirements

  • Must submit to a criminal background check
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Frequently lifts/carries up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length

Job Qualifications

  • Previous event-services experience preferred but not required
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support the team
  • Ability to perform under stress
  • Diligence and attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Set-up and tear down of event’s tables, linens, chairs, dance floor, etc.
  • Proper care, movement, and storage of all equipment such as tables, chairs, dance floor, etc.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set according to the floor plan created
