Job Description
The Ground is a distinguished hospitality business headquartered in the picturesque Willamette Valley, known for its dedication to realizing human potential in harmony with the planet. This unique establishment is more than just a hospitality company; it is a vibrant and evolving collection of experiences and destinations. Rooted deeply in the philosophy of conscious and loving hospitality, The Ground serves a diverse range of guests with a welcoming sense of belonging. Their commitment extends beyond traditional hospitality to embrace regenerative agriculture, farm-to-table food offerings, luxurious accommodations, revitalizing wellness experiences, and engaging programs and events designed to nurture both the body and soul.
As a full-time, salaried position offering competitive compensation ranging from $60,000 to $70,000 annually depending on experience, the Event Service Manager role at The Ground is central to its mission of delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role specifically focuses on leading the successful execution of The Ground's catered events, both onsite and offsite. The position demands a highly hands-on approach and visible leadership on the day of the event to ensure every detail aligns with the company’s exacting standards of excellence.
The Event Service Manager acts as the operational leader throughout the event lifecycle, working closely with the Senior Planning & Logistics Manager who crafts the event’s operational plan. In this role, you will orchestrate the event setup, oversee service delivery, manage breakdown, guide staff execution, and make real-time decisions critical to event success. The responsibility extends to being the primary onsite liaison for clients, ensuring their expectations are not only met but exceeded, by addressing any issues professionally and promptly.
This leadership position requires overseeing multiple event teams including Event Leads, Servers, Bartenders, Event Support, and Porters. Hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and supervising these service teams are key to fostering a culture of hospitality, accountability, teamwork, and professionalism. The Event Service Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining the readiness of all event materials and equipment, overseeing inventory management, coordinating transportation, and ensuring the Stillwater Events Center and other satellite facilities remain clean, organized, and prepared for events.
The role also entails collaboration across several departments such as Catering Sales, Culinary, Beverage, and Hospitality Operations. This cross-functional partnership ensures seamless event execution and continuous service improvement by providing operational feedback after events. Additionally, the Event Service Manager supports special projects and manages essential administrative tasks related to event billing, invoicing, deposit tracking, payment collection, and cash flow in coordination with Sales and Finance teams.
Working with The Ground means joining a team that values diversity and inclusivity, offering a workplace where every individual’s unique talents and perspectives are embraced. The company encourages applications from candidates who may not meet every qualification listed but are passionate about hospitality and eager to contribute to the organization’s mission and growth.
