The Event Service Manager position at The Ground is a critical leadership role focused on the flawless execution of catered events, both onsite and offsite. This role is highly hands-on, emphasizing the delivery of exceptional hospitality through dynamic day-of-event leadership. The Event Service Manager acts as the operational leader during the majority of events, ensuring that service teams are expertly prepared, timelines are adhered to, client expectations are consistently exceeded, and every function reflects The Ground's high standards of excellence. Working closely alongside the Senior Planning & Logistics Manager who crafts the operational plans, the Event Service Manager brings these plans to life by guiding event setup, service delivery, breakdown, staff coordination, and making real-time operational decisions onsite.
This role requires a flexible schedule with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on event schedules. The Event Service Manager spends most of their time actively engaged alongside the service team, providing direct leadership to ensure smooth event operations and superior guest experiences. This position also involves administrative responsibilities such as managing event billing, accounts receivable processes, and collaborating with multiple departments like Catering Sales, Culinary, Beverage, and Hospitality Operations to guarantee seamless event execution. The salary range for this full-time, salaried position is $60,000 to $70,000 per year, based on experience. Job Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience leading catering, banquet, or hospitality event service operations
- Demonstrated experience leading high-volume event service teams
- Strong ability to lead calmly and confidently in fast-paced environments
- Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Experience with event management software such as TripleSeat preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Toast preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Reliable personal transportation
- OLCC Permit and Food Handler Card or ability to obtain upon hire
- ServSafe certification preferred
Job Duties
- Serve as the event service lead for onsite and offsite catered events
- Execute event timelines, service standards, and operational plans from setup through breakdown
- Act as the primary onsite operations leader making real-time decisions
- Serve as the primary onsite client contact during events resolving issues
- Direct event setup, service, strike, load-out, and load-in activities
- Maintain detailed event logs and communicate post-event feedback
- Hire, train, coach, schedule, and supervise event service staff
- Foster a culture of hospitality, accountability, teamwork, and professionalism
- Oversee event pack-outs, equipment staging, transportation readiness, and inventories
- Maintain organization and inventory of event equipment and supplies
- Maintain Stillwater Events Center and storage locations in event-ready condition
- Coordinate routine maintenance of event equipment and facilities
- Partner with multiple departments to ensure seamless event execution
- Manage event billing and accounts receivable processes in cooperation with sales and finance teams
