The Event Server role at Merchants Exchange Productions is a vital position focused on providing exceptional food and beverage service across a wide range of events. These events can range from large corporate galas to intimate weddings and nonprofit fundraising events. The server is expected to be an ambassador for the company, embodying its commitment to hospitality and guest satisfaction. This role demands a balance of technical skills, attention to detail, and a friendly, proactive attitude to anticipate and meet guest needs efficiently. The Event Server will be responsible for setting up event spaces, executing service with precision, and assisting with the breakdown after events. Additional duties may include managing the setup of linens, tabletop arrangements, and polishing equipment. The server must maintain an organized workspace and demonstrate the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit are essential, as teamwork is critical to the smooth operation of each event.

Merchants Exchange Productions offers a part-time, non-exempt position with competitive hourly compensation ranging from $25 to $30 per hour. This role requires availability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on the event calendar. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience as a banquet/event server in a comparable setting
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills
  • Basic food and beverage knowledge - terminology, techniques, pronunciations, regions, varietals, etc.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Able to multitask efficiently, work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be a proven self-starter capable of finding solutions with minimal supervision
  • Highly reliable, adaptable and punctual
  • Available to work a flexible schedule that will include days, nights, weekends and holidays as dictated by the events schedule and seasonal changes
  • Current Food Handlers Card as well as Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Training certification
  • Have regular access to e-mail and the internet

Job Duties

  • Deliver a warm and welcoming approach to all guests that creates memorable experiences
  • Responsible for all aspects of service day of - set up, execution and strike of events including but not limited to linens, tabletop set up, polishing equipment, stations/buffets, in house and rental furniture/equipment, light cleaning, table service/carrying trays, etc.
  • Maintain an organized workspace to multitask efficiently in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Take ownership of and guide guests’ experience throughout the event
  • Exceed guests’ expectations at every opportunity
  • Read event to anticipate guests’ needs
  • Respond promptly and courteously to any and all guests’ requests, questions and concerns
  • Be ready and willing to assist fellow team members regardless of duty or difficulty
  • Participate in ongoing training – service, standards, food and beverage knowledge, etc.
  • Be a contributing team member to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the events
  • Other Production company assignments including but not limited to event registration/check in, elevator attendant, coat check, etc.
