The Sr. Sales Manager, Venues at Encore plays a pivotal role in driving sales and revenue growth within assigned groups and venue locations. This position involves leading the sales process for high-end, large events by effectively guiding customers through their event experiences and identifying tailored solutions that meet their goals and objectives. The role demands a consultative and proactive sales approach, leveraging Encore’s methodology to maximize event and revenue capture opportunities. The Sr. Sales Manager works closely with various hotel personnel to enhance business relationships, supports the sales team by providing training and guidance, and acts as a resource for complex event production within the venue or region. This leadership position reports to the Sales Director or Director of Event Technology and supervises Sales Managers.

Key responsibilities include generating revenue by securing business opportunities, creating advanced technology solutions, delivering compelling presentations, collaborating across departments to capture events, and managing customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and loyalty. The role also demands accountability for maintaining a healthy sales pipeline, accurate CRM data, forecasting, and assisting with sales quotas and lead assignments.

Furthermore, the Sr. Sales Manager is responsible for the development and mentoring of sales team members, promoting a culture of high performance and accountability. The position involves participation in regional or national committees and facilitates training to enhance the skills of the sales team. The candidate must be adaptable to irregular working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and work across multiple hotel locations as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience
  • Prefer experience in audiovisual, technology or hospitality sales
  • Technical aptitude and CRM knowledge required
  • Ability to interpret financial reports
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Job Duties

  • Drive results by soliciting and securing business through a proactive, consultative sales approach
  • Maximize revenue opportunity for assigned customers by creating effective strategies for per-event revenue growth including upsell and cross-sell opportunities
  • Create high-end, large event, advanced technology solutions for Encore’s existing and potential customers
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations that convey the value of Encore and effectively solve customer challenges
  • Effectively collaborate with vendors and other departments to capture and service events
  • Attend site visits, pre-conference planning meetings, and venue meetings to support the customer event experience
  • Understand event cost structure and incorporate it into solution designs according to profitability guidelines
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with customers, venue personnel and Encore support functions
  • Research and understand customer history to create personalized experiences
  • Lead sales meetings, deliver group presentations, and facilitate budgeting and forecasting with hotel partners
  • Address customer complaints and concerns and resolve issues effectively
  • Ensure all customer information is accurate in the CRM system
  • Refer and guide customers through Encore network to secure additional opportunities
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline ensuring revenue target achievement
  • Ensure all opportunities are accurately updated in CRM
  • Support sales forecasting efforts
  • Assist Director in setting sales quotas and assigning leads
  • Learn and adopt all SOPs and new initiatives
  • Maintain knowledge of new products, service offerings and emerging technologies
  • Support sales team members with pipeline management and sales strategies
  • Provide leadership and guidance to sales team members
  • Train, mentor and coach sales team
  • Partner with sales team to provide support on complex events
  • Promote a culture of high performance, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Participate in regional or national committees as requested by leadership
  • Facilitate training to increase sales team skills
