The Sales Manager, Venues position at Encore involves a dynamic and multifaceted role that focuses on guiding customers through their event planning and execution journey, ensuring that their objectives are met while maximizing revenue opportunities for the company. Reporting to a senior sales leader such as the Senior Sales Manager, Sales Director, or Director of Event Technology, this role requires a proactive sales approach, leveraging the complete range of Encore's tools and systems to secure business within assigned venue accounts. A Sales Manager at Encore serves as a crucial liaison between clients, venue personnel, and internal teams, fostering strong relationships to enhance the customer experience and facilitate successful events.
Key responsibilities include driving revenue by applying consultative selling techniques aligned with Encore’s sales processes and methodologies, preparing and presenting timely and accurate quotes and proposals, collaborating closely with internal departments and external vendors, and attending site visits and pre-event meetings to ensure thorough planning. Knowledge of event cost structures and maintaining profitability guidelines play an essential part in the solution design to offer clients competitive yet financially sound proposals. Relationship management is integral to this role, as Sales Managers are expected to provide world-class service by deeply understanding customer history, attending meetings, addressing customer concerns, updating CRM systems meticulously, and leveraging the Encore network to generate additional sales opportunities.
Accountability for sales results is prominent, with responsibilities including pipeline management, maintaining up-to-date and accurate CRM records, supporting sales forecasting efforts, and adhering to all standard operating procedures and new initiatives. Staying informed about new products, services, and technological advancements is vital to supporting the evolving needs of meetings and events. The role demands a strong blend of interpersonal skills, technological aptitude, strategic thinking, and a customer-centric mindset.
In terms of work environment, the Sales Manager will primarily operate in hotel and convention center settings, which may expose them to varying environmental conditions ranging from moderate outdoor temperatures to differing noise levels. Use of high-end audiovisual equipment and occasional work at heights using lifts or ladders may be required. Flexibility in work hours is necessary due to the nature of event scheduling, including potential evening, weekend, holiday shifts, and on-call status. Personal appearance should align with Encore’s standards reflecting the professionalism and brand image of the company.
This full-time role offers a salary of approximately $70,304, with compensation influenced by factors such as location, travel requirements, experience, and additional skills. Job Requirements
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of relevant sales or industry experience
- Technology sales or hospitality experience preferred
- Prior audiovisual sales experience is beneficial
- Proficient in computer use and technical understanding
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to meet physical demands including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching, climbing, and grasping
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call
- Adherence to company appearance and conduct standards
Job Qualifications
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
- At least 1 year of experience with Encore or equivalent industry experience
- Preferably 1 year of technology sales or hospitality experience
- Prior sales experience in audiovisual is a plus
- Knowledge of hospitality industry and sales processes preferred
- Technical aptitude and computer proficiency
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Job Duties
- Drive results by soliciting and securing business through a proactive, consultative sales approach
- Effectively prepare and present quotes and proposals in a timely manner to customers
- Collaborate with vendors and other company departments to capture and service events
- Attend site visits, pre-conference planning meetings, and venue meetings as necessary
- Understand event cost structure and design solutions according to profitability guidelines
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with customers, venue personnel, and supporting departments
